In The Paper Today

Saw this article in the Scottish Sun today :Foxes Blasted by Golf Club Snipers

A bit over the top if you ask me. Lets see how some of the do gooders would feel if they had foxes roaming in their gardens damaging their lawn! Imagine the grief a golf club would get if they used snares and say snared a badger by accident! Poisoning isn't exactly painless. Given the option I am sure a fox would prefer a bullet!

There aint no legal poison that can be used on foxes, and that golfer that didn't want to be name has to be an anti

yes but i bet he was 1st to complain about the greens being dug up to. if i found out who it was and i ran that club. he would be banned.

then again it mite be the paper just saying that trouble making. what has it got to do with the rspca any how. its perfect legal as they no to use rifles on foxes. they should keep there nose out.

look at what they get up to arpund the countryside. they take in injuied foxes from the city. patch them up and then release them in countryside !

foxes in the city eat from bins most the time. in the sticks they havent got a clue ! i was told by someone once he shot 2 foxes around the bird pens on his shoot and they where not even bothered by him. they where very skinny and when he checked them after he shot them. he said they had marks on them from where they must have been patched up !!!

the problem here is the paper.

one would think that a responsible editor/reporter would want to get both sides of the story,as the perpetrator is dead :clapper: the next stop would be an organisation which represents the hunting comunity.

the only response should be a letter of complaint/clarification to the paper( highlighting the problems foxes can cause to the public. emptying bins, carrying diseases, damage to valuble animals/livestock, damaging greens, bunkers etc etc...)

this should be done by someone versed in the press soonest( in germany each sector has a press man/woman who takes responsibility for such releases and for the initial statements which put hunting in a positive light!!!).

these ill informed "storys" put hunting in a bad light and should be picked up on to avoid the non hunting public are able to make their own decision as to whether "city foxes" should be controlled.

this is only possible if propaganda can be put into the light it deserves and information is available.

Sadly most people are not up to scratch on their own wildlife, most would know more about elephant and lions than deer and badger.

the choice of words in the artical would be worth a letter too.

marksman would be a better choice than "gunman".

In my experience most golf courses welcome foxes due to the effect they have on rabbit populations, but if they are being a problem then they should be removed.I'd say the paper was having a slow week to present this article as news and try to sensationalise this story in the way that they have. The tabloids are renowned for making half the story up, the unnamed golfer was probably a figment of the reporters imagination.

Ah Snipers but of course... So I assume they were using a couple of AS50s? I'd be very dissappointed if it was anything less.

It would be useful if Irina Nelson (the journalist) did a bit of research on what a sniper actually was first, before she wrote such a pile of manure. Clearly she doesn’t have a clue, and unfortunately for her it comes over as such in her article. :)

If she had read up just a little on the subject first, perhaps she could have sounded slightly more educated in her drivel. Unfortunatly instead she just comes across as an utter buffoon.

It would be a shame if she carrys on writing this hogwash, but luckily it means I wont be runing out of toilet paper anytime soon.

A sniper is a highly trained marksman who shoots targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the capabilities of regular personnel. Snipers typically have specialized training and distinct high-precision rifles. In addition to marksmanship, military snipers are also trained in camouflage, field craft, infiltration, reconnaissance and observation techniques.

I was going to suggest to write in and complain to the paper.

I went through the story and had some points typed out etc.

Then I looked at the "contact us" page about selling your story.

Use that instead.

Send in stories about antis and rspca that are put on here.

f**k them, they blatantly lie about what we do.

Snipers??? What utter B@ll@cks. Who did they call in the SAS?

Narrow minded journalism don't you just love them all........ :censored:

I suppose they think if you just sit down with Mr Foxy and explain the damage he is causing he will see the errors of his ways he will apologise and move on.

Its a Misconseption that most folk make...FOXES dont run around chasing healthy rabbits for a feed they take the easy option mice voles worms beatles and injured or dying Rabbits Hares etc

Have a look in the stubble fields thats where you will see most foxes WHY ??? easy digging for afore mentioned prey.

Foxes can ruin a golf courses greens if not dealt with, the only legal way is to shoot them dead.

Foxes are scavengers 1st Hunters 2nd
