They've the potential to make good dogs. Plenty of nose, drive and stamina. Problem with this cross is that they may prove too difficult for the average numpty to train to any useful level. Didn't some of Don Southerds coursing dogs have springer blood? ;)

ive had a chap out with me who worked pointer X greyhounds.supperb on foxes and probably by far the most obedient dogs ive seen work, better than most of the gun dogs i have out on shoot days! they were never on a lead, even when i was calling foxes in.would only run the quarry when asked to.according to the chap, were outstanding at marking fox to ground and hunting up.cant remember what the chap was called BUT would have him out on my fox drives when ever he likes!!

I know it aint a lurcher but I have a collie/springer and he's a really game dog great for ferreting with. Also the other day he spotted a big buck rabbit running up a tractor track in a field about 30 yards away and getting further slipped him on it and before i knew it he had caught up and had turned and pinned the big fecker for me to neck (unfortunately we havent quite got the hang of retriving caught game but its getting better day by day) The only down side is that he sometimes gets far too carried away in the chase that when he catches it he crunches it and will try and eat it (thank god for a soft mouth).

But thats my opinion on him (who was a rescue and most likely an accidental breeding but turned out great)

Cheers

(by the way the pic in my signature was him at night in the lamp with a big ish buck which was killed before the photo was taken)
