Well after having a busy few weeks working I put the goss weight up to get time to work him .today he was 1lb 10 oz and showed him a rabbit wasn't sure of it first as he just looked at it and then was surprised him went of the glove and nailed It straight on the head hold let hope that's him going

  6. When you get the bird you can keep the hood on and open the braces and the back of the hood to let a bit of light in and have a food on your glove and let it eat with the hood on to to accept it.

  10. Update for the male he had a second feed last night on the glove .and this morning he had a 4oz feed of jackdaw so lll leave him to supper time and try again for the second feed .

Hi mate yes still have the spar as she is finally started to moult as I converted my mews into to separate parts one for the Gos with a loop perch and one to let the spar free loft and settling well in it six wings feather down so far . Nice one. I hope you get on well with both :-) I should be picking up a spar chick myself soon.....   12. Well every man dream the Gos was 1lb 11oz this morning and finally eat of the glove so let's hope this is a start of him.

There is a bloke in Ireland that flies a male that he reared from a brancher he does very well with him. He's apparently a very well mannered hawk. Keep me posted![/quote YEAH there a few people these days are doing branch as the act like a imprint /parent reared.
  16. A 'brancher' is quite literally the time a hawk is likely to venture out of the nest onto the branchers.......Maybe 5-6 weeks roughly for a goshawk. Traditionally we wait longer to pick up a parent reared Goshawk, 8-10 weeks, which is after hard penning (all the blood leaving the new feathers), unless of course the bird is to be imprinted. ....but it's not set in stone & some have experimented with the 'brancher' stage, a bit too early to start training straight away, but normally out of the imprint stage, a few weeks of socialising before the serious stuff start.....   18. Well after four breeders later I've finally got myself a male goshawk he's only 44days old brancher and sitting at 1lb 12 1/4 oz.

  22. I'll play a game of Russian roulette with my male and see if he'll take one.I mite just try for a few rabbits to get him entered on them and try to do more bird work with him as rabbit number are down here with the summer hunters .
