Bonus Kill Whilst Cutting Forks......

Shooting!! -
My right eye is strongest so I hole in my left hand, pouch drawn to my right ear. I look down the bands with the fork held at about 45 degrees. Where the left band meets the fork is my aim point
-
Looped its good with m 8 hex nuts. Just a bit lighter draw
-
Forked branches are free!
-
I can do it "ok" out the car window but usually shoot with the other hand. I much prefer to aim properly to be confident, but I know some people are amazing at it. When I shot that way the most I got quite good but still a bit better when I take my a second or two more

Best Ammo For Double Theraband Gold
Chuck Rock replied to cannylad's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
I'd be interested to hear the opinion of anyone that does regularly shoot doubles switching to bigger singles. I don't use the same amount of rubber but I think it's just as effective (you can't kill something deader, like they say)... like, I wouldn't swap 20mm double for 40mm straights, but I use 35-25 or 35-30 which I reckon is about as effective as 20mm doubles with the ammo I use but less TBG than the doubles -
Best Ammo For Double Theraband Gold

I'm bloody awful at attaching doubles to the pouch so theyre tidy.. I do use doubles on occasion though, just for variety I haven't noticed any decrease in bandlife though with wide singles tbh or any flyers or anything, but there must be a reason hardly anyone does it? -
Best Ammo For Double Theraband Gold

On another note I seem to be just about the only one that prefers a wide single band (folded over at the forks) to doubles? I like 35-25 for lead filled hex nuts (about 7-8 gram), but most seem to go for thinner double bands. Anyone else prefer to shoot wider singles? -
Never shot one myself since I was a kid but if you can hit what you want to hit and put a decent dent in a bean tin at the right range, then it should be enough for woodies and doves. The trick is just being accurate enough to hit the right spot and confident it sends the ammo with enough force. If you can get that sussed it'll be fine. plenty of game has fallen to black widows over the years.

11mm lead? Double TBG is pretty tough stuff and with light ammo you'll get a lot of wasted energy/hand slap I reckon. Leads, big steel, maybe hex nuts with lead in the centres (my favourite)? -
They are from a fella called rayshot. Great pouches. The m8s with lead in weigh 7ish grammes, same as 10.5 - 11mm lead. Good ammo anf pretty cheap
-
As long as the hex nut is placed the same every time it should be ok. I do it like this: (not my photo) I like 1745 cut quite long (compared to others I think?) shooting hex nuts with lead centers

Wish I could take the credit but that's not me -- just the beans being used! That video is Sid that makes the moulds. I don't shoot them myself (though tempted to switch to them) but know several lads that swear by them. In the vids I think they are shot from a 30-25 or 30-20 taper of single TBG.
-
A fella named Sid makes the moulds. 8x11mm are the "baby" ones I think. I forget the other size. A bit bigger though. They tumble in flight so you get good stopping power and a wicked impact. He had some moulds for sale a while back, not sure if he still has them. He's one of the best shots I've seen and swears by them. Here they are taking a rabbit.

Lee 14Mm Lead Mould Swap
Chuck Rock replied to poachers apprentice's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
I will drop you a PM later bud. Any idea what width you want them? I'll cut them long obviously so you can try different lengths. I can just put in a variety if you prefer -

Or I'd happily swap for some different types of squares. I have tried some big ugly 8mm black and 6mm neo (which I like) but wouldn't mind trying others -

What flats are you after? TBG? I have a bit over a metre of theraband gold and a few bits at home? -
Anyone tried the Dankung orange stuff? Not amber, but orange like dub dub. Size is 2050. Might be alright single with M 8 or looped with decent size lead?
-
I like looped, but do shoot over-the-top too. Like this: I found they slipped a little bit so used two wrap and tuck bands to hold them in place.
-
Bit of both. I aim small fast ammo, like steelies and M 8 nuts. For big stuff like pebbles using squares I just let it fly. I'm more accurate aiming really, but not bad shooting instinctive. I shoot instinctive in my right hand and aim if i shoot with my left, for what it's worth - right handed for out the car window, left handed for mooching. I would probably be better if I stuck to one style but where's the fun in that?!
-
For bigger tubes "tied down" works nicely too. Over the top is great of course, but on thinner forks I like to tie them down. I just line them up to the forks, wrap some cloth around once then wrap and tuck 2 or 3 rubber bands around that. Very secure. You draw against the ties, rather than over the top. Really secure way of attaching.

Just my 2p but shooting flats, I prefer a HDPE bloodshot hunter over a GKJ. I love my bloodshot and it's absolutely bombproof. Only problem I've had (easily fixed) with a bloodshot is they're a little unfinished and rough in the holes on the fork tips, so looped tubes wear out a fraction faster. Still shoot it though. Wrapped in lots of 1842 tube it's comfy and never gonna break
