webley junior pistol

Hi Guys I have been given this pistol from my father and i would like to get it operational again. Its a .177 junior and when i look for spare parts the piston seals are leather, we all know that leather doesnt last forever. I see it is supposed to have a breach seal also, this is missing i assume its meant to be rubber. As a gamekeeper i catch a lot of grey squirrels and was hoping it would be powerful enough to kill the ones i catch in live cages. Can i get a better piston washer?

Some lovely pics from iworkwhippets. I will have to show this thread to my Mum she has raced whippets for over 40 years. She had a lot of champions, even used to go coursing pre ban till she had to have her favorite bitch put down in the field after breaking both front legs in a ditch.

.22LR doing the business
sparky the hunter replied to sparky the hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I get the odd stoppage but after modifying the back of the breech block it isnt much of a problem, need to keep the magazines clean though. Sako quad is a nice thing any pictures? Do you swap the barrel often and does the .22 WMR shoot well? -

What prices are people paying for subsonics these days? -
I have been falling in love with the old 10/22 again! As the crops and grass are so long at present i just find im not needing the range of the .17hmr at the moment, got 4 rabbits and a magpie on this session so happy ferrets and happy farmer. Anyone else still loving the .22?

Nice i think i will look out for some.

Rabbit control in a public park
sparky the hunter replied to sparky the hunter's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Well guys i had no luck with the traps i tried carrot and apple but with no luck. The best method was sneaking in and putting the long net down then walking around the park with my spaniel. Also snaring the fence line they were coming through, we have myxy in the village and surrounding areas now so the numbers will decline even more. Thanks for all your inputs, as i now have 8 cage traps im hoping to get some more trapping jobs in the near future. -

Rabbit control in a public park
sparky the hunter replied to sparky the hunter's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Hi guys I'm having no luck with the traps, i bait them with carrots but the rabbits wont enter, if i tip the carrots out they eat them! No problems with two legged pests so far but i have take the precaution of having a security cable through them all. Thought i may try a change of bait to some apple perhaps, any thoughts? I think the grass is just too lush at present. -
