no more sure than im sure all the polecats or albinos are healthy! im not saying droid is wrong,just that i think if bred responsibly and sensibly that there is no need to build a special ferret Auschwitz!

those were my thought exactly stubby but i was too polite to say so! i was going to offer droid a few ferreting lessons in exchange for a few in genetics though .....

you'd think with an extensive knowledge of genetics,droid would have known that! on a serious note,you never answered my question?if breeding silvers,full stop is so taboo,why are there so many healthy ones around?

i agree its a bit extreme. just seperate them mate.

for a start,i bred her because shes the best ferret ive had without a doubt,shes over 3 and i wanted some young from her.she was bred to a polecat with no history(as far as i can see)of silvers. i understand the risks and minimised them! if no one bred silvers and breeding them was a guaranteed disaster then why are there so many healthy silvers around??

why not breed silvers????i agree to not breeding silver TO silver but you cant say dont breed silvers full stop if bred to another colour(preferably with no silver parents)should be no problems!look at my recent litter to see that! 11 kits,2 wk old and all as healthy as a lop!

well,all eye slits are dark!

yeah,they're similar to that one,only a bit deeper in colour.not sure about the eye slits being dark,will have a look later! so.if the're gonna be polecats,what are the "caramel" ones gonna be? sandy? mother is a silver,dad was a light coloured polecat.

the kits are starting to form there colour now.you can plainly see the polecats starting to go a bit caramel in colour,the silvers or albino's are staying pale but right from birth,two kits stood out from the rest.the only way i can explain it is blue!the same kind of blue that you get in dog pups sometimes! and its got deeper in colour since birth..anyone seen this before?
