  1. I think broilers or cobbs would be fine. I've gone for light sussex for dual purpose so I'm unsure how they will be ar 12 weeks, maybe take a little longer.
  2. Put a dozen eggs in incubator, these are from our own birds so suck it and see with fertility rate to start. This is the start of my chicken production line for meat now, will be Incubating 12 every 6weeks. That is so as the brooder becomes available the next set of chicks are straight in it then the ones from brooder will move outside for 6 weeks. I plan to cull a couple at 12wk and see what they are like, if they are too small I will grow them on longer. It would be ideal if they make a good enough size for the table at 12wk old because that would fit into the 6wk cycle, I.e. cull the 12wk b
  3. Yeah will be checking it mate, certainly for first few weeks make sure it is set up right. Just with work sometimes I'm home late so I'd rather have it shut than waiting for me!
  4. Appreciate that GM. I am trying to show them what can be achieved on a relatively small space. They will have more to talk about but the sad fact is that will probably make them the wierd ones as they aren't on FB all weekend! Little lad is ready to tell everyone how he plucked and processed his own turkey for Xmas dinner!
  5. Got the sign writing off today, still got the glue to deal with though!
  6. Not much gone on this weekend because I've been tryna get this van sorted! Went to see abbottoir/butcher yesterday and I think this is the pigs last week, all being well they are going for the chop next Monday 15th. Still trying to decide about getting another two grown on before I turn it to veg plot or whether to just wait now till back end of summer. Think I am guna wait to be fair. Really wet and muddy underfoot so chucked the pigs some more hay in for their last week, probably end up raking most of this up when they go amd sticking it in composter. Getting a couple of eggs a day
  7. I've looked at a few options and undecided as to what I'm going with at the minute. Could do with atleast 1 more sent in the back with a belt so might end up going rock and rolla seats. But then I want the flexibility of removing similar to what DS has said above.
  8. Thanks guys. Me and the misus def wanna bugger off in a van for a bit once the little uns have flown the nest but that's a fair way off just yet with youngest being 7! Drove through Switzerland on way to Italy few yr back, that's on the hit list, stunning country side.
  9. Well I will be doing the last 2 turkeys this weekend for the chest freezer and pigs will be going in the next couple of weeks so now I'm down to just easy chickens I needed summat else to give me too much to do......... 17plate vivaro sportive that I'm guna convert to a camper. Need to think on design so it will work for me getting fishing tackle in for weekenders and France trips but also works for family and actual full on camper trips so guna have to get the sketch book out. Van needs a bit of work but was part of a bigger deal and already owes me nothing, so it's a free swing as
  10. Yes, well and truly.....though we have nowt to do with them so lumbered probably isn't the right word anymore. f***ing waste of oxygen shithouses who don't deserve the daughter who is my wife and mother to my kids. Quite how she ended up as beautiful as she has (both in looks and personality) is beyond me. Mother-in-law is an awful fat c**t, picked her drink up and turned her back on my little girl at a family do........my girl was 5/6 Yr old. That was it for me, I flipped. Nearly f***ing chinned her, wish my mother was still around because she would be done it for me. Don't mind peo
  11. 'Would have helped the propaganda a white man doing a Kaffirs job" "Oh, was he here all the time?"
  12. Thanks for that pal, enjoyed that one. To many of these are single blokes......suppose that says a lot! Im already 1 marriage, 2 kids and 1 house too deep for this existence, so Im trying my best
  13. These were hatched mid/late Aug and made 9-11lb birds once dressed. If you want a big un I'd say get em in May/June. For me this size was perfect though. Plenty of meat, good fat on em to keep em moist. 8 turkeys at 10lb go through some feed like.
  14. Had messages back from those that had the 3 birds I dressed first. All were over the moon with em and asked if they can put their name down for one next year
  15. Turned out bang on lads. Great flavour and it was moist, unlike any turkey I have had before. Homemade gravy with the juices and giblets. Felt like it's all been worth it already. Then to top it off one of the hens is now laying full sized eggs too, Merry Christmas!
  16. Got mine dressed today, I took one of the smaller ones, about 8lb. Plenty of fat on it, looking forward to trying it tomorrow.
  17. Your not the first person to say that In fact she actually said Mmmmmmmm......mmmmmmmm ......mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ......mmmmmm
  18. You c**ts!!!! Any objections to my well wishes and I will tie you up like my first turkey that seems to be a main character in a 1980s porno......not allowed to do em like this anymore! Anyways have a good Christmas lads
  19. Well don't think did too bad of a job with these three. I was guessing with the string and just tieing them in, assuming there is a knack or method to it so guna look into that. One of em looks like its being held f***ing hostage! My lad got involved as always
  20. Ive had em on growers, was always planning on switching to layers once turkeys gone.
  21. Thanks mate. First go at turkeys. Took me over an hour cull and pluck for first one, last one about 45-50mins once got into rhythm.
