  1. ey up all, due to work commitments I haven't been on here for a while Season's over for me other than any callouts..... Good news is I got a litter of pups out of Milly 4 dogs one bitch... I bred her back to my lakeland dog on a spur of the moment when she had her last outing she had them on weds morning all looking healthy and fine, got one red one and one black/tan the rest blues/black... If anyone interested please pm me...
  2. What a load of bollocks.... I've just had a look at your site dodgewell bedlington... Can I ask when you say you work your dogs on what may I ask ? Not meaning to sound offensive but I think your on the wrong site, pics of roach back freaks that obviously haven't seen a days work in the lives really get's my back up!! JMO...
  3. 7-8ft in a straight tube and let's just say I knew the fox was in there, he didn't want to find it.. There's nothing wrong with the dogs nose believe me, I'll give hime some more chances this season, but it does puzzle me why dogs do it.... claustrophobia
  4. Good replies from all, Thanks lads... I do have the luxury of time as the dog is not mine, it'll go back at end of season and will spend the summer doing it's own thing.. Maybe next season I'll try him again, personally I think he's afraid of pushing on in tight tubes in dark One thing I wouldn't do... is double up terriers in an earth.... sorry but this really gets my back up.....
  5. I've just read my post again, let me make it clear as it sounds like this happened all in one day. The first time I was out with one other terrier checking earths.. so he failed twice on that day... Next time I was out with hounds, they marked and left me to it, so he was given plenty of time to find... 15 mins or so... faffing around... I had my 10 month old pup with me that day.. Next time I had my lurcher and 2 pups.... couldnt find in a straight tube not more than 7-8ft in.... so it wasn't an off day, it's been an off couple of weeks...
  6. I take on board what you are saying, but he's only seen 2 end of digs as such so this isn't wasn't the problem..
  7. He has already showed plenty of interest, he's big and macho at the end of a dig, HE KNOWS what foxes are.... he just wont find...... doesn't want to find.... ????
  8. 18 month old dog, showed loads of early promise, seen plenty of foxes on top, knows what they are recently failed to find in a large earth, so tried a different dog, this finds within minutes. Said dog marks a three holer, collar on and leaves him of, fails to find again, enters different dog, finds in seconds. Had a mark on a large earth, collars up dog enters, exits... faffs around FAILS AGAIN... put a 10 month old terrier in finds inside a minute... Get a mark on an easy one holer that I have dug before, let the dog in, out, in, out. Put the 10 month old pup in up and at his fo
  9. Just a quick update, Milly's pensioned off for the rest of the season She's come out of it badly, lost some of her teeth and not looking pretty at all.
  10. Happy New Year All, I been quiet for a bit due to circumstances.... Milly's out of action for a bit due to taking a lot of punishment of a small vixen that initially got the better of her, after 2 hours searching and digging we finally got her out, locked to the fox. My only guess is the angle she was entering from allowed the fox to punish her without her being able to dish it back.. She lost a lot of blood and collapsed with shock on the way back to the motor, had a bit of a panic for a bit getting her warm and fluids into her, cleaned her up and got some vas and germolene on the wounds.
  11. eat the other 3 before the fox does !
  12. a pound of what exactly ?? Oh! and welcome proudy!!!
  13. Now I got your attention... Ok I'm not getting sloppy on yah! I recently joined a photography website and on there they have a competition running for the best pic taken of a fox, granted most of these pics are town foxes so I guess they were relatively easy to take... It just lead me to thinking do we all actually see the beauty in a fox for what it is, for what it stands for and does.. what it does for it's very existence... My missus tells me I must hate them because I go out and kill them, quite the opposite really, personally without going to deep into it I think they'
