ahhh man, I was dreaming of fields and fields full of rabbits....

  2. Thanks fella. I have to admit, again as a newbie, killing your first rabbit/pigeon whatever is a one off experience. I wasn't expecting the twitching and jumps. Seeing a rabbit flip 1-2 times with a clean brain shot is shocking. Anyone can pick up a gun and shoot paper/metal targets, but shooting a live animal is very very different and the feelings can be very mixed. From elation, surprise and shock to feeling sick and guilty. You don't read that in many posts, it is all something I wanted to share as I set out on my hunting journey. Most posts on here, youtube or the other sites like WOC etc
  3. I look forward to the day the wife gets me a nice prezzie like that, rather than socks or a scarf....
  4. You know what guys. I had wanted to keep my posts open and honest as a newbie on only his 4th hunt. I had hoped to pass on things like;- * Try not to shoot a rabbit near its burrow (if you can SEE it's burrow). * If you hit a rabbit and it doesn't go down right away, get up and finish it off quickly. * If it gets too windy to allow you to shoot well, STOP. Stuff 90% of the people on here do instinctively. However the 10% of us who have never hunted or who are just starting out might just find that helpful. Getting clever comments only serves to stop people posting what could be good
  5. Cheers Skot. The wind was ok most of the time when we were along hedge lines, no problem shooting at all, just if we had a target further out into the fields it started to get unpredictable so we jacked it.
  6. We did mate, jumped up and ran right over, but it was only a yard from the burrow (under a hedge) we were 30 odd yards from it and when we got there it was out of reach. It pains me that it wasn't clean, but we all do out best right? If we listened to the doubt, we'd never shoot, and you can't account for every eventuality.
  7. A very fair point sir, I guess we don't have the choice in these matters. It's not like she carries a sign around her neck.
  8. Nah, he's tight as fooook, wouldn't waste the pellets
  9. It’s 8am, I fell in bed at 4:30am this morning after a 10 hour shift with Bigmac at the farm last night, so please excuse me if the order of events is a little mixed up, I’m drinking redbull for breakfast before work. When Bigmac turned up at the permission last night, he gets out of the car with a huge smile… “what?” I ask to which he replies “One – nil” and reaches into his footwell to pull out a little kit. I swear he ran the poor thing over but he tells me he shot it in the car park as he arrived…well that was me on the back foot before I’d even got the gun out of the boot! I actuall
  10. I'm composing the tale now haha the wind was bad last night, but as you can see, didn't spoil it too much! Write up within the hour
  11. Good lord it almost makes me want mine back....ALMOST.... I can't see my HW100T ever leaving me...
  12. Well done lads! Nice shooting, good to know ONE of you has sense to hold on to a 100
  13. HAHA, exactly what Mac said first night out!! FATE!!
  14. I'm hoping for the same with the yellow, they might just go "ooooh look, the sun is out" and carry on nibbling...
  15. Good to know the Mrs is home! Leave some rabbits for Sunday Have a good night mate.
  16. Bigmac has an ultrafire with green LED and the distance is great. And cheap as chips from China too! I couldn't wait so got the P7, and now wish I had gone Chinese!
  17. Cool, hoping to get out Sunday. I was fannying around in the back garden with the different filters and the Yellow gave the longest beam, then green, then Blue and Red was almost a black out! Just depends on how the rabbits behave. I had the white only last time out (it was lashing it down too) and by the time I had the rifle up and rabbit on the cross hairs it ran off. So I figure white light isn't the best. Saw someone MADE a red filter using a polypocket thing, might give that a try too. Just don't want to buy another damn torch when this is a very good one...just a crap filter.
  18. Can you give us an idea on 1) Distance (I was getting easy 150m+ on white) and 2) EYES, what are the eyes like with the different colours. My night vision is pants so I'd love to know which filter picks up the rabbits best. Cheers mate, good hunting.
  19. Cheers mate, yes it's the P7. The first night I used the red but couldn't see a bloody thing it was original lenser filter and could only just see 1 metre in front of me, I tested yellow the night after and was happy with results but green and blue were also good just need to see which i prefer over next few nights, but the red will just be used for close range ratting etc. Yeah I spoke to Lenza, the red is for "mood adjustment only, not for night vision"....WTF? I'll tel you what it did to my mood! WIll try the yellow/blue/green when out next. I have seen bigmac use green and it
  20. Ditto - though I have been known to do my best at missing....
  21. Good start mate, is that P7 on top there? And what filter do you have on?
  22. I don't understand LOL How very RUDE. haha
  23. If you have a pair of "man arms" the full size is no bother on balance or weight (JOKE - JOKE!!!) LOL
  24. Cracking lump of meat, nice work.
