  1. I was thinking about you last night with the rain, bummer, good luck for Sat with little hunter. Damn Hawks....
  2. Mac, I'll be bloody twinkle toes before you have finished with me. I'm going to practice sneeking up on the wife and kids all week haha.
  3. Cheers, Astral. I kinda hoped there would be a few newbies who might enjoy that. The ammount of stuff I didn't know was 10x that of the stuff I "thought" I knew. Some of the posts on here are aimed at seasoned hunters, and I can get a bit lost. This one is for the greener hunters among us . Mind if Bigmac told me once to "learn to walk lightly" he told me 100 times.....I'm 6'1" and 16 stone, I don't do ANYTHING lightly haha.
  4. Thanks, Symon. I agree 100%, Bigmac was gutted for me, but I kept saying, mate I had a bloody great night. I didn't expect to be coming home with a freezer full, not on the first outing. It was indeed for me about getting out and learning LOADS from these two top lads.
  5. Cheers fella. Good luck to little hunter, hope he has more luck. And cheers for the new avatar
  6. Guys I had a great 8 hours out last night, truely didn't want to come home, I've written a bit of a write up from my POV (Check out bullet proof bunnies) but I can honestly say, it was superb, despite my lack of ability to hit a barn door. Bigmac and Vislauk were both incredibly kind and generous and I feel like I learnt LOADS last night. It was exactly what I wanted, someone to take time to teach me how to hunt, and not just how to point and pull a trigger. I can't WAIT to get out again....
  7. He wouldn't let me shoot the deer, or the sheep, or even the cows....I might have had more of a chance hitting those....
  8. Last night I got to go out on my first hunt. I had posted on here to ask if anyone could teach me a few things, but had no offers. Then after meeting some guys (Bigmac & Vislauk) at the shooting range, they offered to take me out on their permission to give me a taste of hunting and critically for me, to pass on those tips to help prepare me for the day I manage to find my own permission. I have to say, I like the taste of hunting very much indeed! Last night wasn’t just about how many bunnies I could get, it was a chance to learn from a pair of very good hunters, just what is required
  9. As bigmac says, I know that feeling now! At least you found em in the end! Well done mate.
  10. Great read, Darryl, as someone said, that would have saved me all the questions I had at the shop! Couple of additional points for me:- * The storing guns in the slip....I bought a 97KT and NO ONE told me NOT to store it in the slip...ONE WEEK LATER and the stainless section of the pellet port started to rust!! ONE WEEK! I took it back and they sorted it for me but only because I kicked off regarding after sales care and info. My HW100 is now in a humidity controlled wine fridge (joke). * Oil cloths - I was also told by them that I should be wiping the rifle down after each use with an
  11. Cheers bud ill show you how to do it wed or thur hopefully if you get one or two atvbmac  Looking forward to it, all ready looking in my rabbit cook book!
  12. Top haul there fella. Great butchery too! Top work.
  13. I'll keep looking, no rush for him, I won't pick one up for at least 12 months. Want to get mine fully sorted first anyhow, new scope, bipod etc
  14. I tried the superdome as I liked the superfield in my HW97KT, but just couldn't get on with them (I was getting 12-17mm spreads on 5 shot groups). No idea why! The H&N FTT are a safe bet. I'm going to try the top 5 down at the range one day out at 33 yrds and see how I get on there.
  15. Are you kidding? Mate, this is my time away from her indoors! £350 2nd hand sounds good, I guess the ones I saw were with high spec scopes/bipods etc. Cheers
  16. I have been trying a few pellets through mine this morning ready for a trip out mid-week. I can only go out to 20yrds in my garden, but I have now tested over 15 different pellet makes. So when you get yours, you could do worse than to start with these:- (In order of accuracy through my rifle). 1) JSB exacts (4.53mm/8.44gr) = (I shot 5 x 5 shot groups UNDER 8mm today) - best was 6mm group. 2) H&N FTT (4.50mm/8.5gr) = Averaging 9mm groups - best was also 6mm. 3) Weihrauch F&T specials (4.51mm/8.7gr) = also averaging a little over 9mm from 5 groups of 5 - best was 7mm 4) RWS supe
  17. TOP price! As for the knots.. I would ASSUME that if there would be possible trouble with the knots, they wouldn't use that wood to make the stock - Weihrauch would just be asking for returns and lost cash. I will certainly look nicer than my rather boring grain! BUT, I am a newbie, lets the big lads confirm.
  18. I've been doing nothing BUT looking at the Ultras! Youtube and forums, the lot. Great reviews and something I wouldn't mind myself. Look to be around £400ish second hand? Does that feel about right? Like I showed our lass yet haha, do you think I'm mad? I'll keep bringing him to use mine for a good 12 months, make sure he does fancy getting into it. I have to say the 2 pics are a couple of my faves. I love the focus on the second one.
  19. Great choice - BUT....how much you paying? When I picked mine up, they wanted about £780, Bagnalls wants £720.... did you shop around? (I picked up the HW100T mind, not sure if it made any difference).
  20. How did little hunter get on tonight Mac? Couple of pics from this weekend. First one is my lad with little hunters BSA - suits him, going to have to look into picking him one up! Second is my lad focused on shooting my HW100. How long before we have little hunter #2?
  21. Cheers guys. Looking forward to reading & posting stuff as soon as I get out
