  1. When I zero, I tend to use A2 size paper, I have NEVER missed something that size. I guess it depends on how you fit the scope....
  2. haha, love it, but you know every inch counts....
  3. Make a wood, metal, rubber, carpet sandwich!!! Serisously! Get a metal magnetic notice board from IKEA, line it with rubber matting, then a sheet MDF, then a sheet of THICK dense carpet or carpet tiles. You have a quiet front material and a good solid metal "catch all" backing!!
  4. Dark is tough, I thought my eyes were OK, but I find it tough to see stuff, Bigmac is like "there's one" and I'm "Whaaaaat? Where.....walk forward 10 yads - ahhhh there" I also found my eyes are better with the green light than red - but Mac is the opposite - try playing around with filters. Distances are tough though. I have seen Mac walk upto 20 yrd when he thought it was 30. Practice as you say! again and again!
  5. Not the size of the gun is it, Den? It's how you aim it? LOL Dam right, is the scorpion small compared to your HW100? 41.5" silencer to butt pad.......
  6. the quality of write ups on here are greatly improving, loved that read, wishing I could get out right now.
  7. Not the size of the gun is it, Den? It's how you aim it? LOL
  8. 101 works for my phone (vodaphone) and I always call in for the golf course. The other night a police car stopped opposite the course, looked over to me, I thought here we go, but after 5 mins, he ust drove off. I assume he had checked to see if anyone had called in. Had all my papers like but even so, saves hassle.
  9. was crazy mate, haven't been for a week or so but it is an epidemic. haha Ahhhh every hunters favorite words!! epidemic. Lucky lad, send a few over to the golf course for me? Was looking at the pics thinking wow those are big rabbits, only to remember you have a tiny gun haha
  10. You shouldn't get pellets jumping out of the catcher, if they do, normaly they would follow the line of the funnel, so back into your garden. I guess if you nick an edge, then they could bounce off. I'd suggest mounting halfway down the fence, will help. Go down the £1 shop and get a load of kids play dough or plastacine or make your own salt dough....you might even attract a woody or two haha.
  11. I always stand with Mac on my left, I'm slightly deaf in that ear.... helps it wash over haha.
  12. very tidy, nice to see another North East member!
  13. 1) Hope you don't miss that from 10m mate 2) I use heavey duty rubber matting or thick carpet tiles (you can get a pack of 10 or so from B&Q etc). 3) Someone once told me to use putty or plastacine that sort of thing. You won't get any noise from that. Happy plinking.
  14. Cheers Mac, had a top night last night, next step - stalked kill...... I'm on it!
  15. . I think it's text book to zero your sights every time u go down, save an early start when it's pitch black and u want to get in before making a noise!, u never know u might have clipped the scope coming out the cabinet or anything As for daz ... Dam awesome buddy onwards and upwards from now on! Thanks Craig, yeah I feel like it is coming on. I get less stressed and panicy now, if I spook one, so be it, I'll get the next. Early days and still lots to learn from Obi-Wan, but loving every second out on the farm.
  16. Thanks fella, the hours Bigmac put in are paying out now!!
  17. Yes every trip! And to be honest, I need a small adjustment EVERY TRIP. I found that odd, but I always need a couple of clicks up/down/left/right etc. I have an old chopping board which split in two. I just stick a couple of shoot "n" see 2" targets on it (So I can zero in the dark with a lamp too!!). Then carry it from the car to a safe place with a good backdrop. Vislauk and Bigmac paced out 30 yrds and moved one of the picnic benches so that it is that distance from the fence where we put the board. Its really quick and easy and not heavy to carry around.
  18. I know, despite wanting to sleep all day, I want to go back out now too!
  19. write up done...though not as good as coming face to face with a bull....
  20. As pretty much everyone on here knows, I have only been into air rifles since April and last night was only my 8th hunt, but the most important to date, as I bagged my first solo kill. So far every rabbit or bird has been taken after Bigmac spotted it (in most cases), stalked up to it with me hovering just off his shoulder, told me when to kneel or go prone and what the distance was to help with the mil dots. Well last night the prodigal son showed he had been listening to the master! After zeroing the scopes, we split up, before I’d even gone 50m from the cars I spotted a rabbit on the ro
  21. haha, sorry lads, done the usual "post hunting chores" - dog walk, shopping, cleaning rabbit blood out of the car etc etc haha. will be up soon!! And Craig, cheers for the kiss mate hahaha.
  22. Not as happy as me, first solo kill! Over the moon, write up to follow. Cheers Mac, looks like I was listening after all.
