  1. ...as you see, I need to take a new stencil for etching my logo..
  2. Hello, here a ruggend and simple knife for a good friend of mine who accompanies me on hiking trips and surfing. He's not a knife nut, so I made a handle from vintage olive canvas micarta (from a giant band conveyor roll from the bellota steel company) easy to maintain and rugged. 90mm blade from 1.3505 soldered guard from brass, 120mm handle from micarta and a spacer from raindeer. Merry christmas to you all and an amazing new year! Regards Nicolas
  3. In 1904 the Kruger National Park ranger Harry Wolhuter had been attacked by two lions, one chasing after his horse, the other grabbed him at his shoulder, draggin him into the bush. Harry stabbed the lion to death with his sheath knife, a butcher type knife by Williams & Smithfield - London". I tried to recreate a knife, similar to the original, but with slabs from kudu horn and a thicker blade stock. Here the original. Regards Nicolas
  4. Wow!!! How did you made the heat treatment? Clay? Very cool tanto! Regards Nicolas
  5. Just living in Spain a tiny workshop of my father in law (very tiny, dirty, but at least a place where I don't have to care to produce more dirt ;)) The fine tuning, handle polishing etc. I do at home. I don't even have a belt grinder, from time to time, I visit a fellow knifemaker to make my blades on his grinder, he also does the heat treatment of my blades.
  6. @Socks, planning on some holydays in Spain? @Katchum, I made a few months ago a handle from another boring wood... the oil helps to underline the grain, but can't convert a boring wood into exibition grade. This walnut burl ist STUNNING, from a guy from turkey who normally sells gunstock to the big names (Purdey, Longthorne, ..).
  7. Hello, today I applied the last layer of oil on this handle (CCL gunstock oil). Blade is 95mm from 1.3505, soldered guard from bronze, spacers from aluminium, fiber, bronze and buffalo, handle from turkish walnut burl with handrubbed oil finish (a 20 layers). 112gr. Regards Nicolas
  8. Thank you Sirs!! The buffalo horn is a nice, warm and light material, only down side, with the time it will look dull if not oiled. Anyway, it's quite easy to polish and to maintain. Regards Nicolas
  9. Hello, today I finished this gents knife, with forging texture, 82mm blade from 1.3505, soldered guard from bronze, spacers from aluminium, fiber, bronze and mammoth, handle (115mm total) from buffalo. 110gr. Regards Nicolas
  10. WOW!!!! Absolutely STUNNING! Everything, design, size, craftsmanship - TOP!! Regards Nicolas
  11. That's looking good for a first one!!! Try next time a hidden tang so you can later improve the ergonomics of the handle till you find the perfect one for you! Regards Nicolas
  12. Hello, yesterday I finished this new model, the "Norse" - my interpretation of a puukko. 82mm blade from damascus (1.2842 / C100 / 75Ni8) with a 200 layers, soldered ferrule from gun metal, stellar seacow handle and gun metal pommel. On the pics you can see some grey spots, I tried to fill some holes in the bone with epoxi - I didn't match well the colour, today I repeated this and they're now black.. Regards Nicolas
  13. Now with pommel and lanyard hole, so hopefully he won't loose it.
  14. Looking great!!!! And the additional weight of the stag should feel very good in the hand!
  15. Ahhh, when I was about 8-12 years, you would have hardly ever seen me without a slingshot in my pockets.. I urgently need to make me one (or for my kids so I have an excuse ;)) Nice one!!! Regards Nicolas
  16. Thank you my friends. I think he knows to apreciate it, my sister wasn't that happy with the idea but she got a SAK too, when she got 10 and still has all fingers left. I will send him a long letter, how to use a knife (cutting) and how not to use a knife (rest of the letter). Kind regards Nicolas
  17. Hello, soon my eldest nephew will turn 10 years old So is there a better present for a boy than a knife? Here a small Wanderer with 80mm blade from 2,7mm 1.2442 stock. I still need to do the pommel, will be from brass. Handle is a 110mm so even for an adult ok, weights just a 100gr. Regards Nicolas
  18. Thank you Sirs, this one is from 1.3505 wich will stain, but not as fast as the 1.2442 which I used on my EDC (the one with the drop point blade), it stains only looking at it. So I blued the blade with hot vinegar to preempt this process, don't know yet how it will hold up... Here before.. and after blueing.. Regards Nicolas
  19. Hello, just finished, this gentsknife with 82mm blade from 1.3505 soldered guard from bronze, spacers from fiber, aluminium, bronze and mammoth, a 113mm handle from raindeer. 110gr. Kind regards Nicolas
  20. Hello, at the end I went for a Sheffield Pewter Craft Company flask. Very nicely done. Regards Nicolas
  21. The Nessmuk knife was a hunting knife used by George Sears "Nessmuk" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Sears It's basically a skinner. The future owner will use it as hunting knife and uses the knife often with the edge up, so I made the handle quite straight. He has BIG hands, hece the 12.5cm handle.. Regards Nicolas
  22. Hello, just finished this Nessmuk knife. 9cm blade from 3,9mm stock 1.3505 soldered guard from iron, 12.5cm handle from leather, fiber, G10 and raindeer. Regards Nicolas
  23. Thank you very much Sirs!!! Now the set is finished.. Regards Nicolas
