  1. Hello, this time not a hunting knife, but a carving set to carve the game in dilicious slices The knife with a 2,5mm blade, 16,5cm long from 1.2510 the fork from 1.2510, 15cm long. Both with soldered guards from brass, spacers from fiber, aluminium, bronze and micarta, handles from sambar, pommels from brass. This will be a present for my parents Regards Nicolas
  2. Thank you! Price-wise it's about the same. The raindeer is less expensive than sambar stag and easier to find. But the sambar is kept in it's natural form, just a little polishing and a pommel and it's done. This gent's knife handle, allthough less expensive material, takes several hours of filing, sanding, polishing. Actually I'm very indecisive if I prefer tha natural beauty and shape of polished sambar stag or the grey / brown colours of an ergonomic raindeer handle. There are so many beautyful materials, soon I will make a knife with Steller's sea cow, another fasc
  3. The 1.2442 (and the similar 1.2519) will get a very fine, long lasting, hard edge. Maybe not the steel you want for a chopper or sword, but for me one of the best steels for small knives. One downside, it rusts quit easy. Regards Nicolas
  4. Yes, but I'm afraid that old pewter contains lead. So I prefer to go with a recent made flask. Thanks you Sirs!
  5. Hello, just started to make some sloe gin for christmas In winter, when hiking, I would like to take some of my home brewn to share with my fellow hikers, so I need a nice hip flask. I like things that grew a patina over time, so I want a pewter flask. Any suggestions? Sheffield Pewter Craft Company Wentworth English Pewter Company... Kind regards Nicolas
  6. There was a german knifemaker "Wieland der Schmied" who made a similar one years ago, he is retired now.
  7. Hello, a few months ago, I made a small knife with a clip point blade and raindeer handle. As I really liked the grey brown colours of the raindeer together with the bronze, I wanted a knife like this for myself (I sold this one..). So yesterday I finished this small gents knife, but with a drop point blade. Blade 82mm grom 4mm 1.2442 tungsten steel silver soldered guard from nautical bronze, spacers from fiber, aluminium, bronze and mammoth, raindeer pinned with a sterling silver pin. Handle is 110mm 120gr. Regards
  8. Thank you Sirs!! Sometimes when you come across a nice piece of stag, it's looking better to adapt the ferrule to the stag than the other way round. Here in germany, a "Nicker" is referred to a small hunting knife from bavaria / austria. It's function was to sacrifice a wounded animal with a stab in the neck (Genick). Today this knives are carried in a small pouch in these typical leather pants (as I'm from Hamburg, you will NEVER EVER SEE ME wearing something like that ?) but the bavarians do... and they have even a special law, that allows them to run around with this kni
  9. Thank you for your kind words! I really enjoy what I am doing!
  10. Hello, in time for the Oktoberfest, here a small Nicker knife! 90mm blade from 1.3505 100mm handle from sambar. Silver soldered guard from marine grade bronze and pommel. 136gr. Kind regards Nicolas
  11. Looking very good! What about the handle? Regards Nicolas
  12. Thank you, I too prefer Bronze as it is far harder than copper, a copper guard will scratch easily and Bronze will develop a nice, deep durable Patina. Regards Nicolas
  13. Thank you Sirs!!! The copper is taking VERY FAST a nice, deep red patina Regards Nicolas
  14. Hello, I will tell you via pm. Regards Nicolas

  16. Hello, thank you for your kind words! These knives are all custom orders, actually I have only one available, with walnut handle. If you are interested, I can build you a  knife. Waiting time is at about 4-6 months.

    Kind regards

    Nicolas

  17. Hello, some hunters told me that they don't like a deep choil at the ricasso aera as it tends to hang up. So here a try to make one without ricasso. Sure, a ricasso will make sharpening easier and looks good.. Here we go... 82mm blade from 1.3505 soldered guard from copper, spacers from fiber, aluminium, bronze and buffalo handle 110mm (total) form turkish walnut with london handrubbed gunstock finish. Regards Nicolas
  18. This weekend I ran out of sambar... But I had a small blade with strong clip and some reindeer. I like the rustic look of the reindeer with bronce, so a soldered guard from bronce, spacers, from fiber, aluminium, bronze and mammoth. 80mm blade from 1.3505 115mm handle from reindeer with bronze inlay. 106gr. Kind regards Nicolas
  19. Hello, here a very small Wanderer with 83mm blade and 100mm handle. Soldered guard from bronze, spacers from fiber, copper and micarta, sambar and a pommel from bronze with a Colt 45er brass. Regards Nicolas
  20. Thank you Jok!!! The turkish walnut is an amazing material, very dark in the sunlight, but as it get's darker, it starts to glow with a deep structure. Regards Nicolas
  21. Hello, just finished, this gents knife with turkish walnut burl and handrubbed London oil finish. Guard is from bronze and soldered, spacers from aluminium, fiber, bronze and buffalo. Blade 85mm and handle 110mm 90gr Kind regards Nicolas
