The bitch went to Ali and when he came out of hunt service it was the only terrier he kept so she must be decent.....I really didnt get on with this dog when he was a youngster but glad I persevered with him
-
H e is a dog I could take digging anywhere I know he wouldnt let me down ...he is decent enough bred out of DCs Jim and the rough choc bitch Gypsy that was on THL ...its maybe a lot of digging lads just dont give there terriers the oppertunities .

The dog deserves most of the credit ...when he was a pup he was always carrying something my yard was always litter with logs from my fire wood pile so I taught him to retrieve the wood to basically keep the garden tidy .....then 2 years ago I shot a mink and he swam across and retrieved it then with very little training he was retrieving from water ...last year we were carry out our yearly sawbill cull and I shot a cormorant and the river was in spate and I mean really high with trees and debri floating down it the bird landed winged in the water and off he went after it with my shouts fallin

Heres a vid from this morning of a terrier I have picking up a goosander while carry out an SNH licensed sawbill cull ...this was a left and right and he had already retrieved the first bird ....he is as good a digging terrier as ive owned that has found in some very big spots and has a few 5 hour plus digs under his belt ..he hunts steady on top on rough days & I used him wild fowling but he struggles with geese but you cant knock his effort ...a real joy of a terrier to have around . Any one else got any jack of all trade terriers

I would of been 18 year old here on Fealar Estate where I stayed in the highest house in the uk ...loading a stag on my pony Dochan ..I remember this beast we had been trying to get him for a few days he had a horrible switch head ..I was as strong as an ox and prided myself on loading a stag by myself ...great times Stewart Bell ponyman and shepherd loaded up with a brace of stags and heading back to the larder

Havnt you got her half brother Mik? A dog with bull in? Why wouldn't you use that? The dog is only a year and half old and has too much bull for what im looking for Never realised it was so young just remember seeing a pic on here and thought it was a nice animal. How is it doing upto now? He hasnt got the wind and lacks that yard of pace that im used to but hes 3/8 bull ....but he is a decent animal for what he was bred for

It was not just about the type of terrier but the amount of space they had when to ground I was told by an old fella that had entered terriers to otters enough time to know what he was talking about I don't doubt that old fella you know "MIK". My comment was purely sarcasm based. Nothing to do with otters though! Common sense prevails. itwas in no way a dig at your comment

Its a hard life...two questions; 1) do you get paid? 2) do you need an apprentice? No pay just pleasure ....I was right on the tops a stunning piece of the country to hunt hounds
