Seen plenty pointer x labs there not as good as what a pure lab does and not as good as a pure pointer but can be handy animals on the hill in a beating line .......I’ve never saw one that I wanted to own though but seen plenty of labs and GWPs I would love to have in my kennels

I just can’t see what a lab would bring to the mix in a lurchers and I’ve worked labs for over 20 years .....there’s a lot better breeds that offer more As for drakeshead that dog must of lined thousands of bitches if all the pedigrees were to be believed

Another decent day shooting over the big hairy Germans ....only 4 guns out and only 4 GWPs rather than our usual 7-9 but a great day and the scent seemed to be bang on with a slight south westerly wind ....some really spot on points and some of the young blood being worked today and they worked bang on and are maturing into it now

Very exciting fowling under a big moon ....but you have to be patient.....you can wait for hours ....then you get lots of action all at once .....I’ve had some crakin nights on the tiniest of splashes

As part of my job I am lucky enough to try loads of different fly set ups single ,double handlers, skagits,switch from low end to high end tackle and a rod that really surprised me was a Shakespeare’s agility 10ft #8 that a guest was fishing ...a decent rod for £50 .

There are way better rods than the diawa whisker at a similar price

Give some of the big fishing tackle retail companies a call tell them what and where you plan To fish and they will keep you right . one thing now a days even the bottom end tackle is decent and you will get a full set up for not too much money

It’s a crakin bit of ground with a varied amount of game on it can be a bit challenging for stalking we shot over 9 pointers on it today 23 pheasants,1 partridge,2 teal ,and a snipe ....should of been more as they had 175 shots probably the worst average we’ve had this season
