  1. That may work, but it is a lot of messing around. unless your target shooting i would`nt bother with all that, get a lee factory crimp and seat the bullet to the given length for the load you use, this will give you a uniform pressure for each round the jump to the rifling will always be the same and the starting pressure will always be the same so the problem is solved, factory ammo is loaded this way. if you need lengths for loads i have most so just drop me a line.
  2. Geoff mate, buy a manual, get the Richard Lee one or the abc`s of reloading. Keep asking questions in here and dont pay attention to the nimrods, Dicehorn knows his stuff mate he can help you out with most things to do with reloading so dont alienate yourself.
  3. Good point stalker, just borrow the farmers rimmy pop down the road spend 500 quid on night vision and hey presto !!!! Bankrupt and locked up all for one fox, excellent!!!!!!!! Wisdom can be a hard thing to find at times.
  4. Good luck mounting night vision on a shotgun!!!!!!!!
  5. Look i have a five shot escort and i had the same problem with it when i got it. i messed with the cart size until i found a lenght that worked well, since then i have had no problems at all, i have had mine 2 years now and i get on ok with it. but they are cheap and cheerful, i got mine because i want something that i dont have to worry about in the field so if i bust it it wont break my heart, unlike a very expensive scope i had on my rifle for 2 weeks, when i dropped the rifle and broke the objective bell clean off, now its cheap and cheerful scopes too.
  6. Foxes can be hard to trap but normally will go in in the end, provided the trap is set right. Your best bet is to bait him to a spot that you can lay in wait near by with your shotgun. Bait it for a few nights to give him chance to get used to it. I have done this many times, stopped in after work with a bit of bait then after a few nights turned up with a gun and had the fox, the land owner thinks you are the god of fox killing !!!!!!
  7. If you use a factory crimp you dont have to worry too much. I make all my 223 at 2.22 or there abouts in reality it very hard to get every round exactly the same, the factory crimp will give you a uniform starting point .
  8. i use the lee ones they are very accurate but a bit on the touchy side. i would slao like to get some digital ones but dont know what to get
  9. Yep and yep, I needed to do some federal brass after 8 loads, just dont over heat them i am told they dont need to glow red, which is what i did on my first go but it didnt seem to do any damage, that brass is on load 12 now.
  10. Gibbo the replies you got should give you a good indication of the mentality of some of the members here. Firstly you get the idiots that just like to have a moan. secondly you get the Philosophy students with the "what ever your capable of man". Then its followed by the moral conscience. Somewhere along the line the just plain rude will get in there then if your lucky the half sensible relpies will turn up. Its just a case of digging through the BS.
  11. Yep fire formed brass is good for one rifle, i only neck size my brass mostly.
  12. Right i have spoken to the sportsman centre who come under Devon and Cornwall they said no they will only sell what is written on your ticket, so i spoke to Devon and Cornwall and they said that expanding bullets count towards your quota. Avon and somerset who are my Authority still say they dont count count to your quota. so it looks like if i wanted to buy more than my quota i would have to get them in a shop that comes under Avon and Somerset. What a crap system!!
  13. I would be catatonic to think that i go to trouble of measuring every load, spend hours sorting out brass, measuring every round and tring countless loads to find that, shootlodge bungs a dipper of some powder or other in to a case thats just had the primer knocked out with a hammer and nail, a new one pushed in with a strong thumb and shoots a clover leaf group at 100yrds while standing!!!!
  14. Yep i do see what you mean and as i have not brought that many as yet i have no idea what they would do. but if i was going to go and buy an amount that was more than the amount of made up ammo i am allowed to have i would ring first and make sure it was sorted first. I always understood that your ticket states ammo amounts as made up ammo so until i saw this post i have never thought about it before. the good thing about them writting it on my ticket is that if they didnt i would have none on there at all and when it came round to time to renew the old bill would be asking questions as to my
  15. Yes they do, i tend to get them for the sportsmans gun centre and they always put them on if they are expanding but not the non expanding. to be honest though i never have more than a few boxes so i never get up to my limit which i think is 600.
  16. I must be the lucky one then as there is no grey area in my area!!, if they tell me I can have as many as I want then thats what I will do.
  17. Was that writting for the sake of it lol

  19. They are very help full i have loads, you can get info online but only use the manufacturers data, i have seen loads online that i would`nt dare try, there are some wacky people out there mate.
  20. if the action is loose then yes you will be shooting all over the place but if they are tight then that wont be the problem, you must remember if a mole farts in the next county the .17 poi will be effected!!!!!!!
