yeh they should have killed the wolf, when they got the dog off.Just shows how tough a wolf is big or small. The Kangal got hell of a bite on it, and that wolf was still alive, maybe tha coat saves them from the full power of the Kangal jaw, or as said wolves very tough animal. Dan on here said how tough a 35lb yote is , and we think a 18-20 lb dog fox is a test for a lurcher lol ..If you ever look closely at a fox coat and skin and try and tear it, its fairly tough, even cubs, they don't tear easy, so you can imagine what a wolf skin and coat is like, tougher then a badgers..!

That turkish fella was saying, good lad, well done. Small wolf that, you can get them over their much bigger then that. That was on the borders with syria id say, where its mainly desert, further north west, the winters are cold and the wolves are a lot bigger. As said, their all the same species, but vary from region to region in turkey. The dog did very well, they are some beast, when i was living over their as a kid, the karabash was the main dog, i have a feeling the kangal is a similar breed and may have close breeding. Edited to say, to be honest, i felt sorry for the wolf, it shoul

  8. Some great info folks, thanks. Wolves in turkey and wolves in the us, are the same species. They just vary in weight depending on food source ect. It sounds like the Karabash dog, that use to protect and kill wolves in turkey, has been replaced by the kangal, as bird has mentioned, they only killed the wolf as a last resort, most of the time, the wolves ran off, but, sometimes, they would stand their ground as the dogs would be on their patch, the sheperds would not allways be their, so the dogs would have to fight them to death to protect the flock. If i had the money, would love to
  9. Yes, they certainly seem to be hard to get hold of, the true working ones. I still have to ask my mate if its ok to stick some pics up, he keeps him self to him self and might not like me sticking pics up of his dogs.
  10. I am not a terrier man, mainly a lurcher/saluki man. However, i do go out with a friend of mine from time to time with his jack russels and they seem to do well at fox over here in southern Ireland. His strain seems to work well. His the only lad i know of, that has true jack russels for work here in ireland and i mean working, not just showing..lol Any other lads out their that use the jack russel for working foxes here in ireland? They seem to be a rare thing. Cheers.. Edited to say, they mainly work below ground and find their fox very well, getting into some unreal tight corners a

  15. Not to worry Neal, ill do that and see if i can find it, thanks.
  16. Thanks for that Neal, very interesting. From all the research i have done and the above documentary's, it seems the main down fall of the true wild dingo, is the ever increasing population of feral dogs, cross breeding with them. Shame, would hate to see the dingo go the same way as the tazmanian tiger!! Neal, would be great to see some pics of your cream kelpie, and other kelpies you have, i like the breed a lot, reminds me of dingos, apparently, they sometimes behave the same as them, how true this is, i don't know.
  17. Well said Giro. In my experience, keeping them updated with stock breaking is a must. However, in the heat of the moment, that can all change, especially them mountain wild sheep, they run and smell just like deer...! Its hard sometimes to have them totally sheep proof, one of the reasons i don't run dogs around sheep, as over here in ireland, if your dog is even seen near sheep and not chasing, it would be shot, very trigger happy farmers over here i can tell you now.. ! Another thing, more than 1 dog running together, makes a pack instinct and to kill is a lot more high on the cards, somet
  18. Pic of her below with cw, she is the fawn feathered bitch.
