  1. Very handy bits of kit the trail cams. I was running 6 for my uni dissertation a few years back looking at deer deterrents. I had over 24hrs worth of 10 second videos to look through! But had some great footage! If people are wanting a cheap trail cam I just brought one from Aldi the other day for £69.99. I'm really impressed with it, picture quality is just as good as the ltl acorn and Bushnell cams which I have used. Plus like the ltl acorn they have a screen to instantly view footage.
  2. Albino and polecat, Hobs and Jills available in 2-3 weeks. Northamptonshire £10 Jills £5 Hobs Brought up on rabbit I'm sure people will moan saying others are giving kits away but I'd rather people pay a bit that way you know when people part with money they are serious. Message me for more info. Thank you Jarvis
  3. That sounds a good idea mate. nothing worse for a young dog to put work in and not get a reward at the end of it, so having the guarantee of finding something is a must for a young dog starting out. My cocker pup is only 4 months so just getting to grips with sit and stay at the moment but when my lurcher was a pup I started her off with a dummy covered in a rabbit skin obviously not in the same way with a gun dog but the basics are still the same, hunt up, retrieve etc... Just take your time. The way I look at it is your better of having 7-8 years of a great working companion in the fie
  4. I don't think it matters what breed of dog you have, they are all individuals and react differently in different situations. Some good advise from Joe777. Go out with just the spaniel, Get a dummy and throw into some long grass and then build up into thicker cover. I'd say your better having a cautious dog that uses all its senses rather than one that charges into everything and is at greater risk of injury.
  5. I've got a Patterdale who I beat with, she won't go into cover unless there is something in there. The first few times I took her I would look like a prat trying to send her into cover then left her to own devices and she works great.
  6. Had a count up yesterday when cleaning them out. There's 17
  7. Young kits getting bigger. Few days difference between litters as some have eyes open and other don't yet, but already enjoying tucking into some meat! The .22lr is going to be busy the next couple of weeks keeping these all fed!
  8. My mate has brought one recently and he loves it! He says it's very economical plenty of space and as you say if your not wanting to do serious off reading it's a good fit.
  9. Looks like I'll be having to get one then! Saves trying to blow on the caller and get fox in sight at the same time.
  10. Let us know how you get on and what you use, looking for something myself Got best fox calls version of the silva fox. Took me about 30 mins before I could get a noise out of it!!!
  11. Thanks chaps for replied, I've ordered myself some mouth calls from beat fox calls. See how I go with those as are cheap then get more expensive ones if I feel necessary.
  12. Been looking at different fox calls online at the moment and wondered what other people are using and if they would recommend them. Thinking of getting a silva fox (the best fox call equivalent) if you have one I would like to know what you think of them... Cheers
  13. I'll try those two and see, if not I'll try local gun shop
  14. The biggest litter I've had is 15. The Jill killed all but 6 don't think she could cope with that many.
  15. Haha! Yer bloody things! Loves to slide about! They all do pal, I have the ranger and that's slippy as a slippery thing on wet grass, get a few bags of corn in the back and it makes all the difference tho.I do like the high seat, and some good views around, presume it's for deer ? Yer for roe and muntjac. It's near a big release pen so hopefully pick up some sneaky foxes after the young polts when we get them in!Good luck, plenty of munt this side of the border, if your anything like us you will be busy gralloching. Yer mine is only on road tyres at the moment and getting round the shoot ok, m
  16. Just taken over Part time keepering on a local shoot and have got myself a cocker pup. She's 3 months old at the moment. Really pleased with how she's coming on, I'm sure I'll be pulling my hair out in a few months time!!
  17. Hi mate, I've just got myself a cocker pup as just taken over part time keeping on a shoot. The sire to my pup is one of the chudleys. They have a very good reputation in the field trial and gun dog world. I know of 6 other dogs which have been sired by or bread by the chudleys and all a great dogs. They are based in Northamptonshire. Good luck with your search. Take your time finding the right pup for you and see if you can see parents working. My pup 3 months old.
  18. About 6-7 weeks ago I was moving house so left my 4 Jills & 2 Hobs with my dad whilst j was moving for a week. Stupidly I left them all in together and Sod's law 3 out of the 4 Jills came into season and all took in that week. Now I'm at my new house and ferret shed and hutches all set up the 3 Jills have given birth over the last week. I've counted around 15-16 ? Lots more mouths to feed in the coming weeks!!!

I'm on my second one now and it's an automatic and it's much less embarrassing than my old manual one lol I've done exactly that and got in a muddy
