  1. Shouldn't laugh really but that sort of thing really makes days out for me.
  2. The only pellet that I find consistently performs well in all my rifles is RWS superdome, having said that I use bisley mags in my main hunting rifle. Get some samples and find one that suits.
  3. Will be cooking more today, trim, score cover with oil, salt, pepper and chilli flakes. On the george foreman for 4/5 mins cover and rest for 10 and bingo delicious steak.
  4. Cook them like medium rare steak mate, delicious. Had one yesterday even my nippers go nuts for them.
  5. You'd be better of with Ray Mears and a collar as he could whittle you a nice wooden bowl while you're waiting for the food to cook. As for shooting geese with an airgun, legal, yes, but the wrong tool for the job IMO. Ed Stafford leaves them both in his wake. Mears is too fat, and Grylls has too much of his merchandise. Stafford is the Macgyver of the survival world.
  6. Depends on who's shooting I spose, I'm guessing a paid pest controller is a good shot but a chav with stoners eyes and a bent smkb2 would wound a lot in the same way a die hard sporting shooter and pissed up Lord of the manor. I'd say air rifle purely on accuracy. Be an interesting test say damage at 35 yd with a goose head target for the rifle and a whole moving goose for the shotgun. Surely there's someone on here that can do it on film.
  7. He's never even looked at anyone aggressively. Must have been the port and foie gras on her breath
  8. Sitting in the vets waiting to get Shaggy's stitches out listening to a posh lady explaining how every time she goes near something it goes wrong. She comes and sits next to my and declares "ah he's gorgeous I've never been this close to a ferret before, can I stroke him?". As Shagster is the perfect gent I say "of course he's a gentle giant". A lot of blood and squealing later I don't think she'll be going near a ferret again.
  9. It is legal to take them with a sub 12ft/lb rifle. The argument is the ethical side. A goose's skull is thinner than that of a rabbit but the target area smaller. The movement of the head is another issue. If you are at the right range with the right shot then personally I can't see the issue but if you do clip it it won't be an easy dispatch. Another thing to consider is if onlookers see you although it is legal you can still be had for causing suffering ect. Once again it is whatever you feel comfortable with everyone on here will have strong opinions but the majority of us take game with ri
  10. And 177. Was firmly in the 22 camp but now the three main rifles I use are the superior calibre.
  11. S200 every time. Cheaper alternative is a modded xs 78 a guy done a write up on here the other day and got it spot on.
  12. I bought one of these and got a bloke of the chineseairgunforum to mod it with bulk fill , silencer and machined all the ports out and got it to 11.5ft/lb get a good 40 shots per fill. Cracking little rifle, really accurate light and always in the van as a back up. never gets an airing as my r10mk2 is clinical and my tx200 mk2 always puts a smile on my face but my xs has accounted for a lot of pigeon and rabbit, Anyone slating them has never shot them after time spent on them. Good read mate and welcome.
  13. Hey up guys. Thinking about getting one of these for my nipper as the adjustible stock will fit him well and the 5 shot mag will be a bonus. He has a webley jaguar at the mo but would like to beef the baikal up a bit if he sticks with it and gets to hunting age. Anyone had experience with them and know what output is achievable.
  14. I've just had my hob snipped and got quoted between £74-£240 from different vets. Think a lot just pull numbers out the air.
  15. Any tips on how to clear a lot of geese in the shortest period. Have shooters lined up but was wondering if there were any tried and tested tricks to bag a load in one hit. Will be done in accordance with general licence.
  16. As a newcomer myself mate the advice you'll get on here is great, but do your homework yourself aswell. Read up (loads of books out there) plenty of stuff on YouTube aswell. Make sure you have the time to put into your ferrets and unless you get a bunch of seasoned workers don't be expecting big numbers. Personally I've enjoyed learning at my kits pace it's been great to watch them progress and you'll soon find out that missed rabbits are generally your fault. As I say mate read up and take the advice on here these guys really look after thier ferts. Kit plays a big part aswell. I won't ad
  17. That truly sucks mate hope he pulls through.
  18. I'm new to all this and to get a usable, affordable bit of kit with top service helps progress people rather than shoddy kit and shite service deter them. Got to say so far my first season ferreting has been a positive one every one has been helpful from advice to days out, surprising how a bunch of barbaric knuckle dragging Neanderthals (if the antis are to be believed) can be so accommodating
  19. Everyone on here raves about the quality of product and service and of course not forgetting value of les's nets, all of which is justified but I thought it only right in the interest of balance to put the negatives down aswell. 1, since owning one from just before Xmas my wife and kids have forgotten what I look like 2, I spend a great deal of my spare time walking backwards 3, I have had to endure the pain and suffering to my face due to the excessive smiling which occurs shortly after a bugs has wrapped itself up. 4, I cover more ground as previously unworkable sets are now fair gam
  20. I'm by no means the voice of experience but everything I've read and heard regarding these practices have had nothing but negatives surrounding it, my two penny's worth if you are someone that muzzles you are either too lazy to dig or too lazy to put the time into your animals to stop them biting either way you don't deserve the work these feisty critters put in for you.
  21. Just looked at a couple of xtrails. Lovely motor but both wanted silly money for a 14 year old car. Living on an island is a balls ache car prices are sky high and if you need to see one on the mainland your forking out every time you cross the water. Trying to get a few to look at in one hit. Unfortunately the Jimny won't fit my nippers in. Can do with 5 seats but even then I'm leaving the wife at home ( not a bad thing). I don't mind spending money but hate having my arse slapped.
  22. Good advice mate, have found a parts supplier but will speak to my garage.
  23. They look a handy tool mate I wish I could train my ferts to that standard. If you manage to crack it you'd make a killing.
