i got my beddy bitch off nicky and so far so good, using mine on rabbits and rats and could be abit keaner but at 6 month old i cant ask for much... time will tell but upto now im pleased, her coat isnt great in my opinion, by that i mean not much hair but hoping that will improve in months to come too, nicky seemed genuine when i met him and plenty of people talk well of him so i dont have much to worry about, obviously there will be critics.

God created food chains, if we was stupid enough to swim in the sea a shark wouldnt think "shit will i go to hell if i kill this human" would he? we kill for food, weather its going to be on our table or the dogs doesnt worry me aslong as the quarry isnt wasted, if i cant possibly carry it back to the van then i like to beleive the fox got a free meal. but thats because i like to hunt rabbit, i wouldnt take a rat or fox home to eat cheers

BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANY FFS....................... Failed KC show dogs that dont make the grade will inevitably end up in Working Shows, owners palming them of as workers because they chased a squirrel and these are the type that have and do spoil the workers... I won a Working Bedlington class with Tango at the Welsh Game fair many moons ago, in my mind she wasn't the best bedlington type their,, but and a big plus for her that she was obvioulsy worked.... Staley judged the show... I went to another show for Bedlingtons in Wales somewhere, took my dogs, George N was there and he

yes i have to agree im young and havnt had extensive history in bedlingtons and i know the damage has been done but like you have said there are still good bedlingtons out there and any bedlington owner wouldnt want to see the working strains dead and forgotten? surely thats what the show folk want so they can call their fluffums the real bedlingtons.. when they know full well theyre not. All im saying is it would be great to have a place full of proper lads who use theyre bedlingtons for what they are bred for and thats to Dig and work.. and its there if anyone wishes to use it but i don't ha

if thats related to my post about them being shite, i don't disagree by them being great pets and i'm not saying they are any worse off than working stock as pets but as a beddy owner and enthusiast for the breed i am saddened that the show people and organisers want to keep ruining the little remaining workers there is, it doesnt mean nothing to the show people if the working lines become extinct, infact i bet they would be glad (the majority, i know show people with workers also). its more the owners and show organisers/judges of the shows that makes me more angry than the dogs themselves,

i've got a beddy pup and to start with she would go on little missions.. refusing to listen all i did was walk parralelle to her so she could see me not following her and she would soon stop her ways and come to me, but all dogs are different... i only hit my dog once upto now and i did see an improvement afterwards but its not something i'd reccomend.. carrying a bag of snap in your pocket is a good trick.. when it comes just give it a treat and it will soon realise whats good to do.

have to agree with you mate, hats off to the few people trying to keep the breed going world wide.. and yes i also agree about the show dogs, but not everyone who loves beddys want to dig with them.. i just think its a shame they want to get rid of the workers all together yeah fair point but just because people like the breed but dont want to work them dont imo mean you should selactive breed for traits that totaly change the look of said breed yes i totally agree but not everyone is like us two , aslong as them fluffy white shites are winning shows and winning the owners

Basically what nitevision said mate, the dogs just getting stuck in and looking for some snap (am not saying you don't feed him) its just what a terrier wants to do, encourage the dog and just keep an eye on him, he shouldn't go too far but try and get to know the area to make sure theres no earths in use (if your not a digger) or your dog might get stuck! Personally i like bushing its less work for me and dog still gets a kick out of it, especially when they get on the back end of a rabbit so like i said just keep an eye on him and encourage him (or her)

Few lads off here already use it, just a private forum for like minded Working beddy owners. anyone intrested should visit www.thecountrydog.co.uk (weird domain for a beddy forum i know! don't ask) Remember to put something about working dogs in the intrests section or i'll probobly delete it because of the number of bots we get registering. Cheers We're small community and going to be doing regular clear outs of the none posters so things will only get better, its just finding time at the moment as its only me paying and maintaining the site. also i banged a link up for hunting lif
