  1. thanks for that v-max, what specs such as primer, cartridge, did you use for the 87grain v-max and what kind of accuracy did you achieve with the load, also did you chrony the speed ?
  2. like minded people, i just thought i might save myself some time by asking if anybody reloaded these rounds with said powder, might save myself a little time and expense by posting this, must be i'm getting old cheers
  3. you getting all sentimental on us LB.
  4. so whats keepin ye from coming back i'll put the kettle on about 40mins from me, i could never leave the place, i was offered good money to work in dublin, but stayed in donegal as i love the peacefullness, remoteness, and the fact that its easygoing and laidback, plus the scenery here is some of the best in the country i feel but then i biased, glad you liked the place............. :thumbs-up:
  5. SO SJM, were did you stay being fron the big county myself i'm intrested to find out what you liked about the place, i like the fact that you have alot of beaches on your doorstep, plus the wilderness, i would'nt move anywhere else..................... :thumbs-up:
  6. cheers people, for the info used to have a 6.5x55 but due to job loss had to sell, needs must an all that, time to put my thinking hat on.
  7. ditch, your on your way to fun, fun, fun, get a good gun oil, an give it a clean, a gunny should lighten the trigger in an hour or so, 2 pounds is a nice weight, but as i said who knows how the gun was cleaned. so a good cleaning is vital.
  8. cheers baldie for that i cant really complain about the guns accuracy,s with 58grain v-max it will shoot half inch groups all day. but i was thinking of giving it a little extra accuracy for long range, or might go for another gun someting accurate but light, any recommendations? cheers people.
  9. DITCH hows things, firstly give the rifle a good cleaning out with bore solvent, a good clean with a touch of oil on a patch, then put dry patches through the gun to clean out the excess oil, the gun is second hand, who knows how well it was cleaned, could be a slight ammount of copper in the barrel, this will effect accuracy something terrible, so a good clean to start, don't worry about the trigger yet as you've only just got the rifle, practice is the key, and only then if you still find you can't achieve good results at 100 yards, say right an get the trigger lightened, i'd say 2 pounds
  10. HERE WE GO LAD, totally agree with the last post about lasers, no need for one on your rifle, may be ok on a rimmy, not a centrefire rifle, it will only cause you more heartache than good. my option would be see if your dealer will take your scope back an get the hawke nite-eye dot scope. google hawke and their site will pop up. lovely looking scope. i have the hawke target 10x40 power for the .17 hmr and its excellent just going to add, did you adjust your scope for eye relief. any questions pm me. and i'll do my best for ye. [/color]IF EVERYTHING IS DONE TO PERFECTION, IT CAN ONLY LEA
  11. HISTORY IN THE MAKING...................EXCELLENT.
  12. try croping the picture tojust what ye need to see this should save you on file space, if that doesn't work resize then crop. good luck.
  13. trigger done, reloading done!!!!!! rest is on what the cost may be crowning truing action, beding, trying to get costs for these, cheers
  14. DITCH you would'nt want to zero that rifle any less than 100 yards. does'nt have to be dead level. but if you get a chance to shoot charlie at 150 or 175, it will be more guesswork to hold over. if you read the side of the ammo box it should give you a BC. rating (ballistic coefficent) and a velocity. PM me these numbers and i'll do you out a set of drop tables then you'll know your holdover at certain ranges..... DON'T it will all come right. with practice comes skill. oh and as for insurance if your not sure were your shot is going don't take it, but the isurance is handy just in case.
  15. DITCH pics as promised. also comes with shoulder strap bullet testing at 200 yards. 75gr. v-max showing promise. and MY BABY>>>>>>
  16. well dicth, just have a day of from work and i have a few hing to do, then hopefully i'll get an hours shooting at my local zeroing area, i'd advise ye to go for a shooting mat ditch, for about euro and there coated with a waerproof layer on the bottom i'll post ye a pic of it later, as for shooting shooting at an angle to get a zero AS it won't be a true zero. you must be firing dead level to the target only then will you have a true zero.. i'll post pics of the mat later to give you an idea.
