Yeah. I can see that, mate. But, obviously lurchers that 'Excite discussion' If somebody had simply said " A line of lurchers once bred by some bloke called Minshaw. " I'd have been content. I got that from the first two pages. F**k another 398 of that shit! you didn't read all 400+ pages ? shame on you ! Some people are just weak. At the time I was just lurking on here, not registered - but it was the THL equivalent of Eastenders ! ..... he said, she said, I saw, I had a friend who was told by her hairdresser that he saw, your dog couldn't catch a flea.... epic ! Do you know someone nearby who can have a feel of her abdomen and a listen for heartbeats ?
-
If he jarred himself, then they can get a type of sciatica - which leads to them snatching a foot up, and the hips looking wobbly. If he is jabbed up, and well in himself otherwise - eating and drinking, wee-ing etc, then I'd rest him this evening, and see how he is in morning. If he is unwell, he needs to see a vet.

Lovely ! -
Vets seem to get surprisingly little teaching on feeding/nutrition of dogs. With the ease of chucking a scoop of dried complete dog food in a bowl once a day, I think they are always amazed that some people choose to feed any differently. The percent markup they charge on flea treatments, worming, toothpaste, food etc is a huge money maker for them, as is getting older pets in for dental treatment - which is often done by ( trained, and experienced ) vet nurses. I take mine to a vet surgery that are 90% farm animal, 10 % pets - IMHO the attitude of a large animal vet is far more "realistic

Hope you are feeling loads better by now

Not wear and tear - I got kicked in right knee by a horse - 2 years later was overtaken by an asshole in a fast car, while riding my horse - he misjudged distance and took my leg out with his wing mirror. Total of 5 surgeries, and now no ligaments in one knee, and f*ucked cartiledge in the other. Still - I walk dogs, ride and run - stubborn bugger !
-
Wasn't getting at you, or saying you were wrong - it is a very non-exact thing - each pup is different - some make antibodies at 5 weeks, some not til 9 or 10. If you jab them early, and it isn't effective - you won't know. If the pup doesn't pick up a bug, you will never know. Depends on herd immunity - if the majority of the dogs around you are jabbed, the bugs won't last long enough in the environment to cause a problem while waiting for a non jabbed dog to appear ( mainly)
-
Milk shouldn't be there much before a few days prior - sounds like a hormonal phantom - has she been scanned or listened to for heartbeats ?
-
If there is still some swelling around the knee itself, then numbness is normal, and will settle.
-
i was always told that jabbing a pup before the age of 10 to 12 weeks is pointless as it will pass straight through it and give no protection agree - pup still has immunity from mum until then ( if she is immune) so the pups own immune system doesn't start making its own antibodies til 6-8 weeks

Not a great pic, as he was stuffing dinner into his face at the time
-
I'm useless at dog heights - I thought my DHx would make 28"TTS and he ended up 34" TTS instead. Nice pup though, decent looking bone, and neat feet - the pic of the 2 dogs together is lovely !
-
The jabs take a good 10 days to have an effect on the immune system - the first jab gives it a kick, the second reinforces the effect. To be sure, wait for 10 days after 2nd jab. However it depends where you take them - ground that has had no other dogs on for a while is fairly safe, the local dog park isn't. Personally, I dont risk it.
-
Looks like you have the measure of photo bucket now - great pics
-
It's true about the insurance - They will argue that if it is right leg, you won't be able to brake effectively, and if it is left leg, you can't operate clutch properly. Getting out and about on the crutches helps, and the physic exercises as much as you can.
-
Try it and see - you never know ! I wouldn't give up checking the dogs for ticks and fleas though - just in case it isn't that effective.
-
Depends what you've had done - but knees are painful, and slow to heal - hope you are ( all of you ! ) up and around again soon
-
Scary ! To be fair, apart from the bit about the ref at the end, I didn't understand a word she was saying - but she really meant it !
-
I have heard it mentioned, and no I have not tried it. I'm afraid I put it in the same category as " put stones in the dogs water bowl, it stops their wee turning the grass brown" and the " put butter on a cats feet to stop them running away from a new house"
