  1. Thats bad news i couldn't do it i would find some way to get out there after all it keeps you fit in mind and body.I would look to take on a younger person to help lighten the load who you could train up. ATB
  2. Colour doesnt matter to me as long as they are healthy and work
  3. Ye i use my terrier and wouldn't be with out it for love nor money.Hes a 7inch to the shoulder Jack Russell.Hes killed rats, mice, rabbits, birds, foxes and stray cats on his own.Ive a few farms where the landowners dont like dogs on it as they have sheep and even tho my running dogs are stock broke and ive shown them they still wont let running dogs on(and i can see where there coming from if a big dog chasing a rabbit can easily scare sheep and if sheep are in lamb its a bad thing)but they dont mind me bringing the terrier as its not going to run a few fields lengths in short time after a rabbit
  4. Ye that make your own or buy differant one the felt on the inside of that one will rot/be ripped apart in no time and it looks awkward to clean out and price is to much.
  5. First off ye get a shower cap for there head keeps water out of ears B.S.ferret supplies sells them on web along with the goggles to keep the soap out of eyes. seriously dog shampoo bis bas bos your done.

  8. Ive used both and still own both my MK1 is the 8ft with micro collars worked good for me till the MK3 came out and i bought it straight away as it had the extra 16ft search function and it was great from the start till the box started giving false readings and i had to get it fixed.
  9. ........your kidding right.............? No. I had a ferret lose an eye after a kick off a big buck rabbit. Never had it with a rat. Ive had a great working hob got a brain injury for rabbits. Was out with him and he was fine till near the end of the day he started losing his balance like he would if it had an inner ear infection.I brought it to the vets the next day and after a week and a half going back every couple of days to get steroid and anti inflammatory injections he recovered enough to be kept in retirement. He will never hunt again but will breed for me as he was a

  13. A healthy dog can have coccidiosis and can not show any signs of decease i.e. a carrier but if a weaker dog comes into contact with the carrier or its waste it can pick up the decease and it can be bad and will need meds to sort it out.If a dog is at the stage where its losing lots of weight from coccidiosis it would be eating more and would have the shits and not be its self.If my dog had coccidiosis i would treat with sulphadimidine sodium 100mg of powder per kg of body-weight interval of 12-24 hours during 5days.bs40liam in your case you say your dog is its self etc just the weight loss has
  14. What do people think is the best lamp to us for lamping the light force blitz or the lance?I have the blitz it is great for light and has never let me down tho a bit big. Some have said its to wide a beam and lights up nearby fields before your ready to lamp them and i must admit have found it on a few occasions to be the case and it can be more difficult for a new dog to the lamp to follow the wide beam esp to squatters.I have friends that say the lance is the best as it lights up just the field your working when used right and is great for a new dog to follow the beam as its narrow and easier

  17. think its glycirene ( dunno how you spell it ) i have read its fine for ferrets etc few drops i think , also if you put it in your car door locks it stops um freezing up Thats it glycerin good man forgot to reply ye just small amount of it not enough to give them the shits stretch177 or rot their teeth as is a mild dose and there not on it long enough.
  18. If you got them 4months ago from kits they must be late bred in September or so.I dont know about anybody else but i wouldn't enter a young ferret till its at least 6or7months old.Have seen young ferrets ruined by being hurt and been put off hunting from been entered to early but each to there own.If you cant tell if a burrow is in use just persevere and you will eventually find a burrow with rabbits home look for fresh droppings around hole, fresh tracks and fresh diggings and even then an odd one will be empty,if theres rabbits about and your there early enough you will see the odd rabbit go
  19. I have to say ive been very lucky with ticks on my own ferrets ive never had one on them.Have had a few on the dogs all right.I did how ever get a ferret found on a sheep and cattle farm i used to work on and the poor hob had more than 30 ticks on it when i stopped counting. When i got it home i took the ticks off with front line spray and a tick twister. They were every where on him above/below eyes,on his bits etc.He was weak from the ticks on him naturally but also weak as there is no rabbits on this farm what so ever as its a small one in the city surrounded by houses etc with the only holes
  20. I will go in the rain if its mainly showers/light rain before i leave in morning but if its lashing constantly before i leave i tend to leave it for the next day,but if its lashing and im out already when it starts i stay out.It can be a lot messier esp when your ferreting crop fields that are freshly turned and the dogs get drowned but once the rabbits are bolting the dogs stay warm. The nets get soaked also and end up weighing double and when your carrying all your gear 10 or so rabbits back at end of day to car or van then all i can think of is a hot shower.
