  1. the dogs been shaven, you should tell its owner to follow the dog an get a shave to.Hes a scruffy MARRA. :11: :11:
  2. YOU CAN NEVER SAY HOW THEY WILL TURN OUT,EVERY LITTER THROWS ONE WAY OR ENOTHER,IT DEPENDS ON THE PARENTS,WHAT YOU WANT FOR THE BETTER CHANCE IS FOR THE MOTHER ON THE BOTH SIDES TO HAVE BEEN A GREYHOUND,AS FAR AS I CAN WORK OUT THE PUPS USUALLY TAKE MOST OF THE MOTHERS GENETICS,I MAY BE WRONG. YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH A 3/4 GREY 1/4 COLLIE,I OWN A HALF CROSS AT THE MOMENT,HE WILL TAKE EVERYTHING EXCEPT DAYTIME HARES,BUT IF I WAS TO HAVE ANOTHER IT WOULD DEFINATELY BE A 3/4,THEY ARE ALOT FASTER,I ALSO FIND WITH MY HALF CROSS THAT HE SOMETIES TRIES TO BE TO CLEVER FOR HIS OWN GOOD.
  3. my mate has a young bitch, well bred ,out of the sooty sam line,he slipped it with another dog on a fallow stag,an it didnt half get stuck in,although he knows it would never do it single handed, but i think she would try,she may pull a roe if she has the power, ,only time will tell, she is a strong little bitch, nothing like any whippet ive ever seen, not that tall but built like a little staff
  4. got to disagree with you there, dont think a hare should out run a dog in a straight line.im not saying hares are easy to cathch, infact far from it,just saying roe are faster in a straight line.why do you think they give the hare 100 yds law, even in lurcher competitions,i bet a roe would take some catching if you give it 100 yds law in a straight line,he would be fecking flying.
  5. roe are definately faster when in full flight across a big stretch than a hare.
  6. lurchers pulling a red is something i would love to see,ive watched big sika stags and fallow being pulled, but i would imagine they are nothing compared to a big red,you must need some very powerfull, game dogs.I've heard the odd tale about them being caught, but only by people who are known to stretch the truth.I bet they get the heart rate going a bit, before and after they've been pulled, how do you manage to get them home. I take my hat of to you boys who have been there and done it.
  7. the coursing bitch i use 4 the deer, shes a very fast strong bitch, the collie x used to take them to but is to old now,hes a gamer dog than the bitch too,its just shes so fast,it was her first proper year on them last year and she seemed to be taking roe with ease,my other two dogs are only 5 months old,a bit more saluki in them so probably wont be as fast but will be better staying dogs, only guessing at the moment, only time will tell.
  8. alright all, just joined THL finding it an excellent site,im from s.wales .i take part in most country sports, mostly into lurchers,i would say that taking deer with the lurchers is my favourite past time[before ban] :11: i also luv my coursing but being from s.wales travelling every week is a bit awkward.i own 4 lurchers,3 are coursing bred, out of some well known fen dogs, the other is my mooching dog,a old half coss collie x greyhoung, which i use when out with my little jack russell. look forward to reading some excellent stories, all the best BROCK. P.S good hunting and fxxck the ban.

  10. yeah thats exactly what i think, what they do in practice they take into their work.and your theory is something that has happened to a mates pup,she is a lightning fast little bitch but barked whilst chasing the older dogs, then when he started lamping her at 12 months she started doing it on rabbits
  11. could anyone please give me advice on how to put some pics on here, some help would really be appreciated
  12. yes it is me,that pup looked a belta on that picture you sent me,i wud put some pics on here myself but dont know how to do it.
  13. last night me and my mates got into a big discussion about what makes young dogs open up,starting to young, frustration, excitement etc,but we got talking about walking pups with terriers hunting rabbits n speaking, does anybody think this could encourage a pup to open up
