ferret escapees gone feral wild, these breed in wild i caught 2 young from mum last year, ive had live ferret in fenn one christmas early 90s i was surprized at it not killing it the one i caught went mad noisy and stuff.it made me ponder on the traps ability and the ferrets,im trapping a bank for ferrets this winter as they destroyed near every rabbit and god knows what else on the place.it use to be a good rabbiting site so i must do something to allow rabbit warren to be used again,i beleive she reared young in this bank.i will post future results when i set to it.

Price per kilo for fallow, skin-on please?
unclepesta replied to lyndawhittemore's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
dude that is a good price, half that normally That'll be £2.20 a kilo Pesta ah not good is it,its poor for what lovely carcasses they will get i though he struck gold at 2.20 llb but its kilo,we can but hope -
dont put it on there run put it one side,it sounds like you found a well worn part beside bail and placed trap on it this will cause instant fear put live catches near runs not on em in rats case or expect neophobic reaction to be longer bait around trap also to relax em before entering, live catching with big cages can produce large numbers but not small cages,if your trying to trap and control numbers think bigger on live multicatch or set up tunnels around barn for fenns and bodygrips if trapping is your choice, try a little rat snaring on whips, your gonna have some fun by sound of it

keep that trap running keep catchin em,years ago a bloke said he pissed where fox marked regular as a deterant i listened but thought its effect would be limited i should imagine, dunno about bone oil even if it works? dunno if you can still buy reniardine thats bone oil?i think proofing is the way if viable through secure fencing ect.

keep at it you obviously enjoy it and its a skill worth knowing more people should learn it cos it is a life preserving skill, such skills could stop starvation within future communitys like it was in ww2.. if the film 'threads' ww3 actually happens.. its gonna be bleak no more eastenders and bye bye tesco lol

the law has taken quit a interest in snaring thats why im saying its all new concepts and i pretty much mean all from prefered sets to required,locks,eyelets,stops.. to not killing to being trained, from this people like myself will need to do a fair bit of homework and commit fair amount of time and resources changing everything make new wires take a day to sit a course its probably gonna cost a few hundred pounds to go from old to new,im gettin right back into it and i enjoy the new ideas, you sound like a snarer who has mentor and teacher some dont, thats why i say buy 1st so you know its r

the new laws and guidlines have changed the whole concept of sets and snare types and end results, people who set gates fences and rough ground in old fashion sense will have to totally stop and re educate on it all cos even using right snare will result in kill on these areas by most due to entanglement in trees fences and such, its gonna reduce setting options.

unclepesta replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
apologies to cornish i was ansering out of context between the two posts with colin mentioning eyelets and aaron posting a offering of locking snares and then a how to build and fit locks on his diagram on other fox snare post,my stupid fault should have realised when nod questioned,i thought i was missin somethin cos i know nods pretty on the ball -
Fox snares, buy or build...?
unclepesta replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
im off home now,i t just to answer this post in context, buying good snares from a propper guy like woodga or one of the others, they have best grade stuff made in the best way,a novice would make hundreds inferior before getting that good, someone who has used em then will make there own.david at trapworks caters for those who want to just buy instead of trying to work it all out from scratch with no knowledge.many snaring concepts are now illegal in uk now so its all pretty new, hold and not kill is now the game, years back i would use kill stick and a locking snare with a locking lock, most co -

Fox snares, buy or build...?
unclepesta replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
you knows it i can see i was answering out of context, you cleared it,didnt want aarons original link and and talk of locks to confuse the guy askin about snares as locks in traditional form are illegal in uk and he is in uk,thats why i advised woodga its all done legal,a newbie aint gonna make correct angles ect, there attempt will likley end up a bent locking lock not a relaxing type.its obvious generic terms but not to newbies considerin to buy or make.a lock is a lock but a hamburger aint ham,so to a newbie a lock will mean lock, relaxalock is like hamburger has lock in the name but relax in -

Fox snares, buy or build...?
unclepesta replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
we dont use locks? nice to make your own once you know a good snare, buyin pro made snares from a good snareman is a lesson that will put newcomers on track to knowing good from bad a bit of advice also helps beginers and gives insight to manufacture, learn from someone who knows is my advice to newcomers its not rocket science but learning the hangmans trade should be done outside the noose -
hi aarron locking snares no good in uk banned.link is interesting for someone im sure
