.243 T3 what have you found best (factory ammo)
onelesscharlie replied to Smudge00's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Hi I have the T3 in 223 with a 1 in 8 twist and it much prefers the heavier lead. I presume the 243 is the same if it has the same twist, having said that mime is crap with pretty much any remington ammo but loves Winchester 55g ballistic silver tips or soft points. Onelesscharlie -
Hi Personally I would go for a 4-14 x 50 side focus scope with illuminated reticle and 30mm tube. Oddly enough I have a stock cupboard full of them for sale Good bargains for the boyos Onelesscharlie

onelesscharlie replied to heart of wales's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Hi Mate Glad to hear you have actually got round to shooting something with your night vision at last, next time you go to this customer call by Llanddewi and pick me up, you can see the new 308 in action. best wishes Onelesscharlie -
Hi All The JLS moderator for .223 weighs in at 340g, extends the barrel by 7 1/2" and is 1 1/2" in dia. It works adequately but is restricted in efficiency by its dimensions, that said it offers remarkable value for money. Onelesscharlie

Hi It may be worth trying www.guntrader.co.uk. If there is one available it will probably be on there OLC

Hi After reading the "T8 or P8" thread with much interest I thought I would just mention that this mod is available either proofed or unproofed. Im not going to sing its merits in here but it is UK made, reflex style, fully strippable, stainless baffled and the same weight as a T8. For those that know of them it has some similarities to the Dragon moderators. If you want a full spec and details of retail outlets just pm me. OLC

Sorry to drag this out a bit further but i use the magtech .22 round, its not as waxy as the remington ,winchester or RWS and has great stopping power. Also the waxy coating may be a bit harder in this cold air and playing havoc with the tolerances in the action. Onelesscharlie

Hi Matthew Take a little advice and sit pretty in the warm waiting for the right opportunity to come along. Most shoots are finding it hard to sell enough days at the moment but things will change for the better. Have you tried DEFRA perhaps an outdoor office job is a good place to start. OLC

Hi Chaps Sorry for the delay in responding Prices for the Archer unit are approx as follows: Grade D tube @ £1499 Brade C tube @ £2199 Grade B tube @ £2499 The unit has no soviet parts and is built in the UK, the illuminator is also available as a seperate item and will fit most other nv units. They recommend the Leupold VX4 but SP Raptor scopes are also endorsed by them at approx a third of the cost. For those with a lower budget there is also the unit from GB sights, they had some teething problems but are sorted now Hope this helps Onelesscharlie
-
Hi Sorry for the misunderstanding The tube is D grade but has no noticeable spots on the image. I just wish we could have a dark night to go and try it out some more. Onelesscharlie

Hi This one had a grade 3 tube fitted OLC

Hi Chaps I have recently aquired a starlight archer unit and had the opportunity to try it out last night. The difference it made is quite astounding and to be honest it was far more effective than I thought it would be. Two shots at over 150 yards, two dead lamp shy foxes that I have been after for weeks and one happy egg farmer. It is fiited on a cz527 in 223 with an SP Raptor 6-24x50 side focus scope but tonight its going on my .22rf on rabbit duty. For anyone toying with buying one I can only say if you can.... go for it. Onelesscharlie
-
Hiya I will do you a brand new SP Raptor 6-24x50 with front px adjustment, illuminated mildot reticle, 1" tube, free mounts to suit either 9.5mm or weaver rails and flip up covers for 110.00 plus £7.50 carriage. If you cant head shoot rabbits with that on a 17hmr at 100 yards its time to give up. regards Onelesscharlie

There is no right or wrong on this one, it depends what side of the fence you sit on, what you prefer and where you live. If you rifle charlies then chances are the dog boys will piss you off every now and again, if you run charlies then the rifle boys will do the same for you. If its sport you want maybe a dog is your option, if your into pest control then a rifle is the way. Up here in the hills it isnt even worth getting a lurcher out of the truck, go fourty miles down the road to Herefordshire and the dog comes into its own. FFS stop bitching, its hard enough as it is but slaugh

Hi There Just thought i would throw my oar in as well, Snapshot is right on the money about aluminium. I use strips of old photo negatives myself, just make sure you put them in the right mount Dont go mad though or there is a chance you will bend the scope tube Onelesscharlie
