The fastest lurcher would be bred with mostly greyhound blood and resemble a greyhound in every way apart from a tatoo of course It won't make it the best of course but it depends on the ground and quarry Speed= Distance ÷ Time A dog may look fast but another dog with a slower but longer stride pattern can cover more ground in less time..... .usain bolt Size will be a factor

Now that is a very nice stick. It was honestly a pleasure to meet everyone yesterday and I feel proud to play a part in such a well organised event. Congratulations to arch and owain was just a lucky barsteward lol. There were many highlights throughout the day and I haven't laughed so much for a good while. The otter losing the sea monster brought a smile to my face to say the least not that I'm one to revel in an others misery lol. I Just happen to stumble upon a post about coursing and the pre season prep was mentioned which set the old grey matter working. Obviously in certain parts of the world hare coursing is still legal which leads to my question without bring anyone into Ill repute. Anyone Run There coursing dogs with a Tracking collar on ??? If so what is the average distance a dog in this type of work is doing. during a day???( Not in the back of a motor )

I feed as little biscuit as possible after a thread I read on here also and me or the hounds have never look back. Like you said alot more healthier all around and a dam site easier to clean up after. It's only a shame it won't help my lot to catch -

lol yep I'll agree its a fact that a hound does have better scenting abilities than a terrier , otherwise you'd have century's of men in red coats riding horses with packs of terriers ? tally ho dear boy

Yeah I have to agree terriers are the ultimate busher on the right ground for reasons I've already said on this topic. Unfair or not it's a fact that hound have an ability over an earth dog. I was merely informing people of an observation of that ability . Each cross or breed will have they're own use in the right environment without doubt. Bushing is a broad term that can mean walking up a hedge or strolling miles through a forest so each to they're own

They didn't watch the rabbit go up the field, just followed the line of scent and were unable to make the line and carried bushing. Just the same as a full pack of hounds would on ...say a fresh ploughed field in the wrong conditions. There must be a lot of poor terriers out there if that's the level of your experience, I hunt all over the country with my 3 terriers and see lots of spaniel/beagle/terrier crosses out and about but nothing that comes close to a good terrier, mine are worked everyday and catch or flush to my lurcher, on average just the terriers will catch 4 or 5 bunni

lol ditto ill speak slow and let the marbles roll out the moooth I can honestly say I didn't understand a single word of that................. There'll be all sorts of accents there mate. Better brush up on your "cockney". I'm pretty good on cockney my old china but I might need to get my dog and bone out of my sky rocket and find a translating app for Jim..................................
