  3. Mossberg 500 pump .410 moderated Surprising what you can kill with it!
  4. Morning Anyone use rabbit water bottles to give water to their magpies/crows? Seen it done a few times but want to be 100% sure it works before buying a load of them. Currently use old drink bottles with lid cut off but is prone to pick up alot of mess. Cheers
  5. Just a couple with my new bitch, she's 7 months and is a saluki x whippet x grey, very small bitch though. She caught 3 out of 4 rabbits. She still was abit nervous of me to start with but she's changed in a few weeks. Cheers
  6. Hello all, I've got a new whippetxsalukixgrey who is currently 7 months old. I took her ferreting the other week and she caught 3 out of 4 rabbits. The only trouble is she didn't bring them back to hand. Now this is the first lurcher I've had and am abit unsure on how to teach her to retrieve to hand. I've got spaniels who retrieve, is training roughly the same as it is in gundogs? Any info would be good. Cheers

  8. Corky John- photos on here need to be reduced in file size and due to not having wifi for my laptop I've only put them of preloved through 3G on my phone. They are bayers- I'm a full time gamekeeper I'm not going to keep a terrier that's no good and I'm pleased the bitch is a bayer! B-end...- I've advertised all to save messing about. I am keeping one but won't choose untill they are older so I can see temperament. My under keeper is having one also so have 2 left. I can think of easier ways to make a few hundred quid just getting the adds out now so I've more chance of selling them! R
  9. Yes guys the attached preloved advert is the pictures. The parents have both worked fox- good terriers never should look like they have seen much-! Lol 4 pups- Cheers A

  11. It's Bettws hall and yeah I used them for 3 years. No problems with health, chicks all really good but if you ask for a specific strain- forgot it as you will get a mix of anything. Hexi will more than likely be down to over crowding your release pens! Cheers
  12. Morning all, Am after a Lakeland terrier stud dog around Warwickshire/Glos or there abouts. Wants to be rough coated and either red or black and red. Anyone got any decent workers? Wants to have plenty of fire and a good solid head. Cheers
  13. Depends on what type of duck you want too shoot- as in flighting mallard or released. My 8 ponds are all free of trees around them for the main reason that with reared duck if they have somewhere to hide they are more prone to not fly off it. If you only want to shoot small numbers- flighting or relie on wild stocks the more islands, shallows, reeds, weeds and trees the better. Cheers
  14. Agree. I've tried French commons, Kansas, bazanty, black necks, manchurians, melanistics, first crosses, to name a few. All have different properties and all vary from shoot to shoot in some degree. Black necks are fine but unless flown often can struggle to reach a decent height and on a woodland shoot with small rides etc you'll be best off with a smaller breed that can make it over the canopy. French commons suit pretty much every shoot. Cheers Gk
  15. Free- Albino/polecat jills. 10 weeks old. Gamekeeper bred, Warwickshire/Gloucestershire border. Cheers
  16. Yeah so it's a new plantation woodland and the only way you will get useful undergrowth growing in between the trees is to spray off blocks of the grass and either replant with bramble cuttings or let the weeds establish themselves. The cuttings should then be covered with branches cut off the bottoms of the established trees. Piles of this brash also should be piled up down the runs to create cover for game. You may have to get ahold of some fir branches. You will be surprised how much you will need to have any real benefit. You could also lay some of the trees as they are the perfect ag
  17. What tree species are they? How old are they? How close together are they on average? What plant species are in the wood currently? May be able to help further if I know that lot. Snowberries will send up shoots from the bottom of the plant in the first year but they won't start spreading untill year 2/3 onwards. Take the top off them when they get to your required height and they will bush up abit more. Cheers Gk
  18. Well done mate. Snow berries are very good, they usually take 2-3 years to get to a decent size but they sucker well. The best method in any dense woodland is to fell/lay trees. I find that so many shoots I go to complain about no ground cover in their woodlands and yet non of them dare cut/lay a tree. Yes a tree takes years to grow and establish but one can improve the woodland habitat for not only game by making some clearings and letting natural regeneration take place. People need some balls at times!
