Anyone Help Identify This
drakeshead gunner replied to lapin2008's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Great little find that mate, really interested to find out what it is and age and things. Keep the updates coming and pics too. -
Yeh I did say I was probably over thinking it but she surpassed my expectation with the limited training she has. But thanks again for all the replys and support. Appreciate it people.

And it was £20 for a very easy days beating and they put on a suet crust venison pie with veg and home made rice pudding at the pup after the shoot, all for free so couldn't complain at all.

After the dyke

So I turned up Saturday morning bright eyed and bushy tailed, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Kept dog on lead while we were on the yard and guns were signing in and stuff. Headed out onto the first drive an irrigation pond. Ducks lifted as guns were getting into position so the gamekeeper had a good old chunter about how useless they are and how hard is it to get on a peg lol. As the newbie I was put forward to don the thigh waders and get into the dyke end to push the birds off the island haha. Gamekeeper said it's only ankle deep (the usual tosh) so took dog off lead and in w

I think iv sort of painted the picture of an untrained dog, that isn't the case. She comes pigeon shooting with me and after season on a farm I pest control for he lets me do a bit of rough shooting and she fine on game then, like I said think I'm just abit apprehensive myself and like born hunter said it could easily be passed onto dog. As said I'm sure they will appreciate someone who has the bottle to put dog on lead if needed than someone who is too stubborn to do anything about it. First day of season to. Thanks for all replys guys ill let ya know how it goes.

Thanks kev very constructive, she has stood on the peg with me on a single day I got, like you said I would just rather be over cautious than ruin a days sport. I know she will be fine but it's just my first experience of beating too.

So Saturday is the first day beating on a new shoot I got onto, now had a single day shooting last year but not done beating with the dog and speaking to the other people on shoot the game keeper is abit of a dragon. So deciding wether to take dog and keep her on lead till I know how the shoot works and what he wants or just not take her to the first one. Advice more than welcome

Shortening A Rimfire Barrel
drakeshead gunner replied to drakeshead gunner's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks for all the comments, helpful and very interesting! Think I may go to 16 inch, as I know some of the cz models are 16 inch from factory. Although mine is not the 452 modle it stands to the 1 in 16 twist rate comments. Someone mentioned about eley subs, with their target back ground. Have people had good experiences with these? -
Shortening A Rimfire Barrel
drakeshead gunner replied to drakeshead gunner's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks for replys lads, sounds like something ill be doing then. -
Does anyone know how easy/ difficult and also how expensive it would roughly be to have a .22 rimfire barrel shortened to 16 inch and threaded? Just got an old Brno but its like a barge pole by time I put my mod on it ha. And read that at the ranges you shoot with .22 rimfire the shortened barrel should not affect accuracy too much. Advice more than welcome

The old boy bought one of these a while back and it's now on my 'to borrow list. Doubles a platform too so if your on en-even ground can level it out. http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/fishing-barrow-platform
