Hello people just a quick post as I've noticed how the thick cover and nettles and the like seems to be holding the ferreting up this year, I would just like to say I managed to get hold of a slough hook I think they are called, and what a difference it has made, it makes very short work of nettles and brambles and other debris and its not to heavy (like an extra spade) just wondered if anybody else uses this sort of thing, cheers rabbitcatcher

Very good write up Sirius,I too only started using the trammel nets last year but my god are they deadly, I've have several now and I've got some only about 6 yards long on 2 poles ideal for sticking through hedges/ditches and the likes, anyway mate very good post and smart pics, ATVB rabbitcatcher!
  6. I've been fecking around all day tomo mate I can do the first row of mesh on the ring but when I try and start the second row the twine I'm using keeps knotting before the knot is in the right place ( on top of the mesh board) but I will get it (eventually, lol
  7. Yes Andy that would be great, and much appreciated I've got a rough idea but only off YouTube, I could do with buying the gear to get started as I've only got a homemade needle and a big roll of thin hemp tipe stuff which keeps snapping when I pull a knot to tight lol

  9. Hello people, I'm going to attempt to make some purse nets so I'm looking for a bit of advice on which size needle I should use etc etc the easiest twine to learn with and any other tips you might know, cheers in advance, rabbitcatcher

As above in rustic brown size large, still got tags on and also has about 8 Barbour pin badges on it some are the same badge twice, also it has a couple ov tiny slits about 3-5 ml but nothing bad I don't know why they there as its brand new, I'm open to offers for swaps for something hunting related, try me,cheers Adam , ps I can email pics if needed as I can't put them on here

  16. Just a quick reply, a friend of mine was raided last week and a Labrador bitch with 8 pups, a ess with 5 pups and 4 ferrets were stolen, the car was a Subaru estate of metallic red or burgundy colour in County Durham,BA**TARDS
  17. There's 1 dark polecat left to go short stocky thing, well handled and in top condition, should make a good worker or a nice pet,free to a good home, knobheads need not comment or reply, cheers adam

Tell me about it Geoff, I've been trying to get on with the dog for ages now, I think my next dog is going to be a whippet, I might have more chance with them being a lot smaller, I wouldn't care but I've got shooting and ferreting rights on a good bit of land up there but he,s adamant about no dogs, atb rabbitcatcher
  19. I know,I've got plenty of permission just I can't take my dog on a lot of it, I'm not expecting anything as a lot of the wanted ads get nowt, but shy kids get no sweets.

As stated I'm looking for rabbiting permission in the weardale area with dog and ferrets, I'm 30 years old and I respect boundaries/rules and livestock, I have purse nets,longnets and locators, also I would be willing to help anybody out with ferreting in this area or the surrounding area,s, also I do a bit of lamping aswell so if there's people from the co,Durham needing rid of rabbits off there land please pm me or anybody needing an extra pair of hands, cheers rabbitcatcher
