Dead birds are upside down are bad but if you drop one upside down with the wings out its real bad!! As said above try to keep the thing natural. I wouldn't use too many crows if i was trying to shoot pigeons they tend to scare the pigeons off, that could also be part of your problem. Id usually just use a pair of grey crow decoys placed 30 yards upwind of the last pigeon decoy and call them in. Atb Mark

rough shooting with 410 problems
remi700 replied to farmerkev09's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
If it was me id tell the farmer to go F**K himself and get someone else to do it. What a pile a shit. Your never going to control a large number of pigeons with a 410. It'll cost you a fortune. -
Depends what youve been convicted for, how long ago it was and whether or not they consider you to be a treat. Its gota be worth a go though. You wont know for sure till you try. Atb Mark

In my case it certainly wasn't bad springs or pins. She was hittin them real hard, never had the problem with any other cartridge.

Shotgun cartridges for foxes: update

Anyone seen the Andre Georgescu huntin down under dvds? Think it was the 2nd one he was shootin them with a marlin goose gun and AAAs at staggering range. Its all about getin the address right! Ps If anyone has them and would copy them for me please pm me. I lent mine to a boy a couple a years ago and never got them back. Thanks mark -
Had those lyalvale supercomps one time. Every second shell wouldn't fire. Pure shite, I brought what was left a them back and got a refund. The boy in the gun shop said that everyone had the same problem with them. He reckoned that they were designed for the olympics in Japan and with the cooler weather the primers wouldn't ignite. That might be shite but thats what he told me.

Battery hens are fantastic layers but only for a short space of time. There bred to lay an egg a day for about 1 1/2 years and then be killed off for new stock after that. If i was you id look for some nice breeds that will look good and lay well for a longer period of time. Marans, New Hampshire reds, Susex, Bluebell (hybrid hen maran x Rhode island red i think), Rhode island red, Barnvelder. These will all make good laying hens. If you have an incubator you could get a settin of eggs but it would be spring next year before you have an egg from any of your hens, the same apply's for

Im nearly sure those are non edible. Used to have a plant with berrys and leaves like that in our garden. There defiantly not sloes if that's what your thinking when you say a type of damson. They grow on a black thorn bush and wont be ripe for another 3 months or so. Atb Mark.

Split Shotgun Cartridge. (Advice / Help Needed
remi700 replied to maktayla's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I wouldnt think gasses escaping from the side of a casing could damage a gun. When they pressure test the barrel they plug one end and blow it up to a certain pressure, usually 1370 barr I think although some guns are tested higher then that. That would mean that all of the barrel could take the same pressure. It would be hard to tell how many crows are killed here every year but i can tell you we killed 100+ on Saturday mornin. Still no jams. You haven't Jinxed me yet! Was chatin a friend a mine saturday night. 5 a them made 3 hides a couple a weeks ago and shot 940 in one day. Showed me t -
Go for whatever fits you best and worry about makes second. As said those Lanber o/us are tough gun but dont buy a Lanber auto whatever you do. There a piece a shite!! £500s a good budget. Depends what you want to shoot also. For clays and a decoying gun i'd go for a Miroku 3800 every time, but if you want a game gun to carry all day somthing like the Lanber or an AYA Yeoman o/u would suit you better.

Split Shotgun Cartridge. (Advice / Help Needed
remi700 replied to maktayla's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nothin wrong with a zabela sxs thats for sure. There good for hundreds a thousands a shells! Friend a mine had a 12g one choked 3/4 full. Mighty gun. I think it could be somthing to do with the bore of the barrel in my case anyway. The fabarm autos are different to most guns, the barrels are bored bigger then 12g although the chamber is still made to fit a 12g shell the barrel is actually bored about 11guage. I think its supposed to help with recoil but my guess is that its having some kind of effect on the gas inside the barrel thats bursting the cases. Hard one to explain. Fantastic gun -
Split Shotgun Cartridge. (Advice / Help Needed
remi700 replied to maktayla's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What are you firing them out of? I have had a similar problem to this firing B&Ps through a fabarm auto. Dont know why she does, and i've never seen it happen with any other shell but she nicks about every 2nd B&P I fire. Stopped using them in the end even though they are a cracking shell. -
Wouldnt fire at a tufted??? The best eatin thing with webbed feet IMO!

Gone outa business now. I heard he was up in court there a couple a months ago. Never heard the outcome, he nearly done me for stuff too but i found out where he lived and pestered him! Didn't get what i wanted but i got the value of it in other decoys so i was happy enough. Done better then most out of him!

Have an antler bored out with one in it. I've never actually tried to call a fox with it but i blew it at a touchy fox one night that wouldn't stop and it pulled him up, he instantly regretted it!!

You can easily make your own pegs, cut a stick from the hedge about 12" and cut an x into one end along the grain about 2" deep. Cut a piece of galvanise wire 3" and put it down the centre of the x and bind it with string. Job done, gives them abit of movement as-well. Getting them up off the ground and getting them to move around abit make a vast difference to there visibility from a distance.

Shotgun cartridges for foxes: update
remi700 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
RC 40s or 50s if im feelin really plush. I,ve accounted for countless foxes with them, i'll use nothin else now. Usually in 5s, always through a full choke. I never take it out. Anythin else is for little girls!! -
I've heard it said that you should try to keep all your decoys the same or at least similar but to be honest i dont think it makes much difference. The more the merrier. If you can find where they want to feed they'll decoy to anythin. Before i had the money to buy decoys i used to decoy them into coke bottles painted with aluminum wood primer!! Worked grand till you get a few dead birds out, then it seemed to flare them but by that stage i had all the real decoys i needed! Now i always add my dead birds to my spread of full bodys and shells and it seems to work fine. Atb Mark
