Just a thought but could it be that you say you notice a drop in power at the same time it starts shooting to the left. If there is less power the pellet will be traveling slower and therefore in the barrel fractionally longer. When you pull the trigger there is naturally a slight movement of the gun sideways. If the pellet is leaving the gun at the same time then the slight sidways movement of your body would result in the same point of impact, that which you would have your scope centered on. If the speed it leaves the barrel varies so will the piont of impact.

Legal to own cpc that has potential over 12psi?
GruffaloGriff replied to GruffaloGriff's topic in General Airgun Discussion
If going for your FAC isn't it more restrictive as to where you can shoot? From what i have read you don't get an open licence untill you have had it for some time or when you apply for renewal after 5 yrs. Or is it different with an air rifle on a FAC? -

Thanks Toka that is very helpfull and especially as it is first hand experience of having your air gun tested and given the all clear despite it's potential of over the 12lbs. -

Cracking information on getting your FAC here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/67282-firearms-certificate/ Seems that FAC for air is easier to get then for fire arms. -

the police are bound by law making sure they have disclosed accurate information .... Just finishing a BSc degree in Policing. Just think i have the answer then a counter argument comes along and i am not so sure. Anybody know What is the actual ledgislation for air wepons and more importantly how it is enforced? As long as you are shooting on your own land and not at the neighbours cat, windows etc what is the liklehood of the law coming along and taking your air rifle away for testing? Anyone here ever had their rifle conficated, tested and returned by the police? Years ago -
Cheers guys, just fitted a 3-8 x 50. Never realised how accurate the old HW35 was, allways used open sights, the scope makes the world of difference.

Good to know i am not the only one. Like you i get good enough grouping with a RH stock but it feels a bit strange at first. -

Grew up in rural USA and got my first gun BBgun at 6years old and been shooting air rifles ever since. Never realy botherd me, only ever notice when i pick up a right specific gun. Still work the bolt etc with my right. Not the best shot in the world but had plenty of rabbits in my time and lost count of the rats. Speaking of BB guns, don't seem to be many about in the uk, any reason for this? Probabally not as accurate as pellets but you could pour a tube of 200 bb's in to my old Daisy lever action and fire 2-3 per second untill they were all gone. Great fun as a kid, not so good for small -
I agree a Hw35 is a cracking gun. My dad bought one when i was 9yrs and i went halfs on the money £40 each. That was a lot back then- my whole lifes savings infact! I inherited it when i became old enought o legally own it.It seems a very heavy gun now but never bothered me as a kid. Infact i just fitted a scope to it for the first time lastnight (having allways used the open sights it came with)as i was considering looking for something else. With the sights though is is amazingly accurate so think i will keep the old gun.

Hi all, i am right handed but left eye dominant, so shoot as a left handed person would. Makes a bit awkward to use a gun with a right hand specific stock. Also tried a right handed compond bow, which definately dosn't work for me. Just wondering if anyone else if left eye dominant but right handed? What do you use as a shooter? Is an either left or right specific stock a benifit? I have a universal on my HW35 so it dosn't matter but i have the chanse of a rapid 7 and it has a RH stock but i can still use it ok, but obviously would sit better if it was universal or indeed a LH stock.

Leaf springs from old landrovers (or any other vehicle) are perfect for larger knives tend to be 80point + carbon content, just finished a cracking one. Anything with high carbon content, files etc good for smaller knives but you will have to heat them red hot & let them cool before you can bore them etc. Then need to shine & heat temper purplr/ blue and let air cool to get it to take an edge when you are finished working it. Get a book from the libray or i'me sure there is plenty info on the net as to carbont content of various scrap metal, generally things that have been blades bef

Thoeben Rapid 7 cartridge jamb
GruffaloGriff replied to GruffaloGriff's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thanks buster, that sounds like a real possibility, especially as this dosn't seem to be common problem with the mk1. May be the week end before i get a chanse to take a real look so keep thi ideas rolling in.Cheers -
Wanted Weirauch HW35 spares/ repair
GruffaloGriff replied to GruffaloGriff's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
Thanks for the offer Chris, i did consider doing it with my mig but a tig would be much neater, had a local guy do tig on an aluminium bike frame so might try him. I will see if anyone comes up with an old one for spares first. Heck of a job to bore weld accurately with a small hole as it is so hard. -

Don't know anything about chrono's. I assume there are good ones and poor ones like anything else you get what you pay for. Any suggestions as to a decent one that won't break the bank? Should i buy new or used? -
Thoeben Rapid 7 cartridge jamb
GruffaloGriff replied to GruffaloGriff's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thanks guys, thats all good tips. I suspect the mag hence the 2 new ones. Tried stripping down as i agree the spring does seem weak to not move on the pellet, so that was what i was looking at but can't see anything wrong. Unlikely to be 3 duff mags? Cheers UKhunter, I will check out the rapid7 club site. Yes paulus I am rotating it to engage the spring. Most of them engage ok, often the 3rd one that sticks but sometime others. If i slide the mag out slightly it jumps forward to the next pellet and i am back in buisness. Just the unpredictibility of whether there is a pellet in the bre -
Hi my mate has an old mk1 thoeben rapid 7 he is offering to sell me. I am undecided whether to take him up on the offer as the cartitges seem to jamb. Will load a few rounds ok then seems to stick, you push the bolt forward thinking there is a pellet in the breach but end up firing a blank. Have cleaned oiled everthing and even tried 2 new mags but same thing happens once or twice each fill of a mag. Tried different pellets too. Anyone else had this with a mk1? Any suggestions? Thanks

GruffaloGriff replied to GruffaloGriff's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Best advice yet , thanks. Could even borrow a chrono and make sure it is under 12ftlbs and fit a blank plate so the allan key adjuster is not easily accesable. -
Tried reaming out the hole from the main cylinder into the barrel port on my HW35 years agoe to improve preformance. It didn't! Only gives more recoil not power. I would like to put it back to it's original state so If anyone has an old broken or incomplete HW35 i would be interested in buying it for parts. Thanks

the rapid was made in fac aswell as 12ft lbs, ive got one on fac, the cut out in the stock at the rear of the bolt was done at the manufacturing stage, most pcp`s can be tampered with. but as long as this rapid shows 12ft lbs or less on a chrono then its legal to own off fac. if you want, take it to a gun smith and get the adjuster blanked off and a certificate of power of him. Sounds a bit of a mine field.I see a mk 1 for sale at the moment on the listings page and they come up fairly regularly. What other guns should one avoid if there is to be no question as to whether it is a sub 12ft l -

A tool is required but it is quick to do and no stripping down so sounds a bit dodgy, prefer there to be no grey area as not worth 5 years. Pity as it is one of the lightest most accurate guns i have used. Thanks for the feedback.
