Made these 3 catapults up last week.........
GunB replied to deanothehunter's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
Maybe you should be selling em mate, start up a little online business. They look top class. -
Man thought it meant bear grylls himself died in the wild, and ofcourse that's what they were going for to get attention, sneaky pricks.
-
Dog easy. Horse is (or was) man's handiest slave, but dog is man's best friend.

does anybody work the irish terrier??
GunB replied to BIG G wheton machine's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Every pet one I've come across seemed like it wished it was working, they're fiery brave little dogs with a lot of attitude, but yeah never heard of a serious worker. -
Lol, don't get me wrong, it's a cool story otherwise, just saying minutes is a long time. Could boil a kettle of tea and drink it while that's going on.
-
Don't see how mate, no animals were tied up here, all were wild and caught in the wild. Including the bulls. We have wild feral bulls in oz.

Yeah the boardogs forum was the best, I was "bitey" (named after homer simpson's possum lol). I think the OP had a fair question, from this other aussie's perspective anyway, is it right to assume that "before ban" the bull x's were mostly for deer? Even though I've never set foot in england and probably never will the ban there pisses me off more than any laws in australia, because I'm by blood an englishmen and I just think how the hell can they tell an englishmen not to go out with a dog and catch game, when he's been doing it for thousands of years. Here in australia the natives ar

That clip is funnily enough not even from africa, it's from india and it's a leopard charging on some pigs (not warthogs) and then getting pole-axed. Warthogs despite their big tusks aren't actually as dangerous as pigs, not as strong and those big tusks aren't even the ones they attack with, they're just whetstones to sharpen the killing lower tusks, and they also use them as a barricade when they back into burrows. Warthogs however are a lot faster than pigs, that's why in africa they hunt them with boergreys rather than these big solid pig dog types. The bloom brothers' dogs had a bit of

Minutes? For a fox? Was it a cocker spaniel?
-
Cheers mate!! looks like it is possible, to hell with all the nay-sayers lol.
-
Yeah they always mostly get their neck, and usually with chunks embedded into the collar. They smell it then turn their face to press their neck into the shit, and then maybe roll onto their backs onto it if you don't whip them off it in time with the lead, lol.

JD is ok but all other american whiskey or bourbon is just poisonous crap. Like others have said about getting drunk at 14 and then getting turned off scotch, for me it was bourbon. Can't stand to be in the same room as it. I love all scotch/irish whiskey though to be honest, not too fussy.

Ahh ok, that explains why this isn't a thing. Lol. Yeah I had the ignorant assumption falconer's birds brought the killed animal back to them. Suppose it does seem a bit silly now I think about it, hard enough getting a dog to retrieve and they've been bred for thousands of years to do things for us. Bit much to ask from a wild bird. Just had a thought though, what if you were in the middle of the ocean on a boat and it had no where else to land?
-
Isn't the whole point of falconry to train the bird to bring it's kills back to you? Or do you just have to track them down and try to get the kill off them on the ground?

best country for terriermen.....
GunB replied to CarraghsGem's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Maybe there's no country for terriermen? -
Awesome stuff mate. Always fascinated with american staghounds but you seem to be a rare breed (on the internet anyway), and a lot of hunters in the US seem to steer clear of sighthounds, don't know why when it seems you've got some of the best running dogs available on the planet. Good to see you doing your part to keep the culture alive over there.

best country for terriermen.....
GunB replied to CarraghsGem's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Reckon you guys have a rather romantic view of oz which isn't entirely accurate. We suffer all the same nanny state shit the UK does, in fact most of your laws just automatically come here. It's a big place sure but all the huntable country that actually contains wildlife belongs to someone. If you aren't going to buy a huge rural property (realistically thousands of acres), you're gonna have a hard time finding anywhere to hunt. Forget about state forests and the like, they're either devoid of wildlife (a lot of them truly are just wooded wastelands), or you're not even allowed to have dogs i -
I'd agree with this. I think a leopard would struggle with a wild boar. Leopards do struggle with boar. Bullbreeds are a lot better at subdueing large animals than leopards though. And that's a fact. Bullbreeds are adapted for tackling, well, bulls. And really all manner of very large very dangerous game. And prime specimens face to face. It's their bread and butter. Leopards target mostly inferior specimens of antelope and the odd warthog (which are actually much less formidable than boars, despite the impressive tusks, but much faster), and are happy to fail most of the time. Don't be fool

Just wondering if this cross is ever done? Seems like a good idea, as jagds are pretty good runners in their own right and great hunters in lots of ways. Are jagds maybe rare in the UK?
-
Anyone ever heard of this being done? Just spent a week at an island resort and saw some white bellied sea eagles catching pretty big fish, made me wonder if people ever keep them and catch fish with them. If it's even possible. A lifestyle you could get used to I reckon.

Horse, cow or deer shit if you're lucky. It's pig, fox and worse- HUMAN shit that fucks ya. My dog rolled in a hobo drifter's shit a few months back, felt like shooting him and throwing him in the creek.
