Maybe I and my family are in the minority but we all keep terriers (not digging dogs anymore) but they are all workers with lurchers and have been of mixed type over the years. Had Russell's mainly, but also borders and various xs none of them have been scrappy (excluding 1 Russell bitch) yes they won't tolerate being messed about but nothing serious has ever been noted. I am not talking about a few dogs over a few years. I am talking 3 generations of family over 60 odd years, I put this down to a few things. All these dogs were out at least 2 x a day and exercised well, worked all year round

Just trying a video out cheers

The schnauzer is out everyday with me doesn't enter really tight cover, but is keen as any of the terriers to be fair as genuinely will go allday. Quiet handy for me as my terrier is mute but the schnauzer yaps big time when close to stuff. He had tackled most things you meet on walks over the 6 years I have had him from a pup, Never going to be as a world beater or good as a specialist or my SLT but he certainly enjoys having a go and is a tough little bugger great coat as well atb

Lee yes haven't had them long, but with four dogs needed to save a bit of space and they seemed a good idea. Had my doubts the dogs would take to the bunk but they love them. Bit pricey but the amount of cheap beds I get through they should save a few quid in the long run cheers

Cheers for the comments, his breeding includes mainly whippet, plus a touch collie and grew.. Very much whippet like parents though and he looks a bit bulkier than he is in the pics. Hoping he will make around 21-22tts, don't think he will lack pace based on his parents. Suppose the rest is up to me now cheers.

We have alway kept terriers together (never owned black terriers) and never been any issue d real note. I guess it depends on the type of terrier you keep and knowing them well. My dogs are kept in the utility room and when they are in there they sleep pacing up and down. If they are restless they need more work or exercise IMO admittedly some dogs are easier to knacker out than others but it's our job to make sure they get hat they need and then chill the rest of the time atb

Bit simplistic I know but very few problems I have had couldn't be solved by upping the exercise. I know it's a pup and you have to ltd the amount of exercise but if it's whining then it sin that tired. A good bone might help as well cheers

whos advice matt to have her spade Willow it is the advice of the vet mate alongside my obsessive research lol. I am not one for going along with vets usual speel about it being safer to spay to avoid long term problems etc and have only ever spayed a bitch once before when she had a serious womb infection later in life. But in this particular instance having spoken to more than one vet (one of which is a friend of my Dads and we have used for years) I think I going to stick with this option. I have always had bitches and never found seasons a real problem, but the bitch ended up on a dr

She is getting there cheers. Just lost a fair bit of condition as she was off food for a good while. I have her booked in for spaying in 5 weeks time. All the advice I have been given is sadly to go this route as the infection that followed her phantom is likely to return after each season. Ideally I wouldn't as I genuinely think she has shown promise, but I wouldn't consider breeding any bitch until they are 4 and proven and I wanted a pup this would mean a lot of seasons for her with a high risk of the same problems reoccurring. I have the little running dog pup now to work alongside her in

As Flacko has said the issue really is 2 young dogs being brought on together. Think it will be difficult one to manage unless it can get a really good leave command to taught to the terrier. But terriers like being in on the action, bit of patience and plenty of training sure it can be sorted. I would say it needs sorted soon though, as it's only a matter of time before the retrieve goes Totally to pot and it may well end up in a situation where the dogs guard their catch/ run off with it especially as they hit adulthood. My old mans lurcher is similar to be fair, worked alot with terriers an
