who cares how you ferret or how many you catch, if you aint enjoying it, why do it, do what you do an enjoy it, life is shit enuff without having to explain yaselfs to fellow hunters we was out pike fishing today an 1 a the guys brought a couple a ferrets an a few purse nets, an when the kids got bored due to the lack of pike action they went an ferreted a couple a small warrens an got 2 nice healthy bunnys for the ferrets dinner, try telling that 5 year old lad an 5 year old lass that they are only part timers cos they only caught 2

Don,t get me wrong mate I can see the plus points of using locators and can appreciate what you,re saying But if you ferret with a locator the very fact that you have one will affect the decisions you make and how you,re dog/ferrets work and a certain aspect of fieldcraft will be lost na mate i disagree, maybe for some folk, an id be more inclined to think that if it was going to effect anybody out ferreting it would be the folk that learned how to ferret using a locator, if you have done any sort of serious ferretin without a locator, then i dont think having 1 in your bag will effect

No mate, but I've been out with some that do. Ferret's down for 30 seconds then it's out with the old knocking box and doing the feed the chickens dance all over the buries. I'm not adverse to using a locator, they can be a real useful tool, but at the same time I don't think they are essential and something that would prevent you ferreting should you not have the use of one. lets face it, only 1 thing is essential to a days ferreting, an thats the ferrets, the nets, locator, even the box is all just there to make life easier for us

surely not everybody that uses a locator digs at every bury i know i dont, i only use a locator as a last resort an then i only ever use it if me or the dog know there has been contact made under the sod, an nothing has moved since, i use bolting jills to empty warrens, tho if the dog or ferrets tell me its not quite empty, then ill use a ferret with a collar to locate an retreive the said bunny/s

he is atleast 3 an we are sure hs is 4, junior would be the man to ask for his age, but he shows no signs of old age i got a 3 year old jill here that looks twice his age, she has had a hard life I,d put the peak of any working ferret,s life from there second season until there fourth. Could just be he,s getting past his best. had my near six year old hob out a few weeks ago, he was still capable, even faultless, buy you knew a hard day would have bossed him. if it was to do with age, id a expected the hob to atleast have made an effort, especially after a nice lay off, he seem ke
