  1. now then mate, im from aycliffe and looking for some new permission to ferret on. if i sort something out i'll drop you a message and you can always tag along
  2. if you dont find the owner and are looking to rehome it, and if by any chance its a hob just drop me an inbox, got a good home waiting in aycliffe, you could even come and see how well my ferrets are looked after yourself lol
  3. i know its a bit late in the year but im looking for another hob to join my team. want one from good working stock only. can be either kit or older, preferably already working. must be loacated close to Darlington North East.
  4. a few terriers down maybe, but not a ferret :L although i wouldnt put anything down if you value its life and also your freedom lol
  5. im sure if they had managed to break your locator and you'd reported that they would have to pay to replace it? wink wink if they come on the permission again just let the farmer know and im sure he'd be more than happy to scare em off. next time take a few pals with you mate. cant stand people like that, carry on hunting no matter how much grief you get. us ferreters have been round for generations and they sure as hell aint gonna get rid of us that easy. bunch of no-balled f**gots if you ask me!
  6. hi mate, im about 20 mins away from borough and have my own transport, i would snap at the chance to go out but would have to be weekends? message me if you want someone to tag along any time! supprised nobody snapped up this straight away, not often you get good genuine people offering days out!
  7. x2! gonna have a crack at making a stew tomorrow, i'll let you know how it goes and if its good ill upload the recipe
  8. in my opinion, if you starve a ferret you're giving it encouragement to kill in. mine are always fed dry every evening, (unless i have rabbit in - they get one to share between two) mine are a nice healthy weight, not skinny like some of those african looking ferrets lol. they hold a nice bit of weight on them but arent too fat, theyre nice and strong and my hob often pulls bunnys out of the holes. if you have to starve a ferret to get it to kill a rabbit, then its not a good worker. nice, well fed, strong ferrets are the way to go IMO. mine are a cracking set of workers and they can
  9. i have a jill you could have had which ive had out working a few times, shes only about 7 months i think but shes got the hang of it! you could have had her if you were closer! hope you get sorted and find yourself a couple of cracking little ferrets
  10. thanks guys! you've all been very helpful! much appreciated. i just took the ferret to a ferret rescue as i believed they'd do whats best for it and i didnt want to spend a fortune as it wasnt mine. i found 2 ticks on one of my ferrets and one on another which had been in contact with the stray one so ive removed them and gave them some ferret spot on, ive cleaned all of the hutches out with flea and tick killing spray and gave them all new beds and everything. im going to keep checking them over fully everyday for the next few weeks to make sure they dont end up with them and
  11. so its the stuff for cats im after? and how much do i spray on and how often? found 2 ticks on another ferret todat so need to get it sorted. theyve all been fully cleaned out and disinfected. need some asap really :/
  12. also it would be greatly appreciated if somebody local to me in the Darlington area could possibly come and help me with removing the ticks as i havent done it before
  13. my girlfriends dad found a ferret yesterday that had been abandoned in the carpark at his work. as i have ferrets he rang and asked if i wanted it or they were just going to let it go, so i said id take the little guy in. got him home and he didnt look in a good state, he was all dirty and his coat didnt look too good and he was a bit thin. so i put him in the spare hutch with food water and bedding etc. upon inspecting him this morning ive found he's covered in ticks. where can i buy a tick remover? and will i need to get some treatment for him and my other ferrets and dog
  14. 3 out of 4 of my ferrets have been tame since the day i got them, all as kits. one was a bit nippy at first but after a week or two she stopped and never has since. i can bring mine in the house and let them run around and they jump all over me licking me and stuff lol. brilliant pets! ive had a few different pets, (dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters etc) and none of them are as funny as my ferrets haha, i think theyre hilarious. if you look after them right then they cant be beaten
  15. when i got my poley jill she was a little twat! used to bite me allll of the time and sometimes used to attack the other ferrets. after id took her out the 2nd time and i put her in my pocket whilst walking about she just fell asleep and has never bit since, shes soft as muck! out of all of my 4 she is the only one who has ever even attempted to bite, they all seem to love the attention and the more i give them the better they get. my only advice is to keep handling them, if they bite a flick on the nose should stop them and just keep it going... theyll get bored of biting eventual
  16. try just keeping the collar and box seperate as that is what kept on turning mine on, i just keep them in seperate end pockets on the game bag
  17. Champagne Hob - Benny Polecat Jill - Brown Ferret Albino Jill - Stinky McGoo Albino jill - Smelly McGee
  18. the permission ive got near darlington is overrun with mixy you know any decent places in the co. durham area?
  19. we were using my mates lab on saturday but it just wasnt quite fast enough :/ gonna have a wait around until i find a nice small lurcher with decent lines in i think
  20. Looking at getting myself a dog to take out with the ferrets and mark the holes just in case the rabbits manage to slip through somewhere, and i was just wondering what kind of dogs people think will be good for it? most of the permission i have is in small quarries so a big skinny lurcher wont be too good for it :/ i've got a patterdale terrier at the minute which is more than capable of the job but he is just too much of a nut job! he kills everything in site.. including sheep, cats, ferrets, birds and occasionally goes for other dogs (he's brilliant with people if you know him. soft as
  21. I took my two out last night for a quick warm up session and over the 180 acres we were on there were only a few about, most of them being too small anyway. netted a few, and had one snap a net then another few got out of holes we didnt manage to cover. noticed quite a few dead rabbits laid about on my way round though so presuming that theres quite a case of mixxy on the farm so im just gonna leave that permission til the numbers rack up again.
  22. i had my 3 jills in one hutch, 2 albino and 1 poley, and the poley always used to bite and latch on. then i decided that maybe she was best in with my hob who is a bit bigger as she was always bullying the albino kits and since then she hasnt bit since... soft as muck! i think its down to all the playing her and the hob do... ALLLLL day :L they must be nackered out and can't be arsed with biting on when they finally get a rest from each other. try getting him a pal to play with? if its suitable for you anyway and you'd be able to care for them properly. might make the little guy mor
