  1. So you would agree that a Lurcher that jumps is a alround better Lurcher? Ofcourse its better. A terrier that could talk to you would be a better all round terrier but its not a necessity.
  2. The whippet can jump most things. MOST being the important word here. She jumped a fence one night and out of the beam. Then hit it at another place in the pitch black and early knocked herself out. My other dogs jump 100%. Im just saying its really handy but a fecking pain in some places near motorways etc. I would have had her jumping better but thats life. Shes here- fit and well and thinks shes an 80lb bull x Baw, im not getting defensive mate and wasnt referring to my dog. Just asking whos dog doesnt jump as i havent read the thread for a few days only the last page.
  3. A little explanation would have saved all that would it.
  4. Whos got one of them like Theres bound to be flaws in every dog. Whether it be jumping, retrieving or marking. Its the owner who has to put up with this and live with them. If people dont like it then dont invite them out. Easy. Seems everybody on here has perfect dogs that are flawless.
  5. So of you're out ferreting and loaded up with ferret box, bag full of nets/flask/etc, do you take it all off every time you come to a fence or a locked gate to lift the dog over? She will jump if she needs to. But being honest here, ye think im going to let my whippet jump a gate 5 times her height and more after i spent over a grand putting her back legs together? For the sake of 2 seconds hassle? No thanks. I do fully get what ye all saying and i agree. But its me whos got to deal with it so be it Aye I forgot you had all that bother with the whippet mate..

  7. It comes with the territory perhaps you should take up knitting if you over analyse everything like this......what do you think of dogs running flat out through woods? Im not over analysing anything. Im making a point that all of you saying a lurcher aint a lurcher of it dont jump. All the will in the world ye cant controll what ye dog jumps. Whether it be a partitioning fence or a fence to a f****n 100ft drop. I dont know what the fields are like where you live but where i run if the rabbits gone through a fence its either gone to ground or away across a road. Other places
  8. and im not talking about fences dividing fields....im talking abiut the boundary fences into woods, paths and roads. are you all talking about the wee fences in between fields?
  9. fcuk that. a lurcher hell bent on catching the quarry, going at 35+ mph jumping a fence into the unknown. my dogs jump BUT take a look at the other side of the coin.
  10. Unless you have your own 'spare' microwave i wouldnt put the catty in it. I done it for a few and then BOOM! set it on fire and nearly took the kitchen with it! It in the garage now and still works so is now my 'catty microwave'. But lesson learned- dont use a good microwave for your wood drying.....
  11. Cheers. The blue bitch is a ped whippet mate. No special lines to mention or any fancy names to shout about. Mainly show bred but im happy with her
  12. tailgate guard for sale. Fits my astra estate. Im sure it would fit more estates and maybe astra vans etc. Just screws into the side using brackets. Not sure of the make. Used but works perfect. Can lock using padlock. Ideal for leaving the boot open on hot days or invaluable when opening the boot on main roads. Means your not grabbing at 3-4 dogs trying to jump out. Looking for 50 pound or reasonable offers. Only selling as i have bought a new car and no longer require it. Pickup only midlothian. Cheers

  14. WHIPPET not WHIPPETS. only one there. She had her coat on before and after. Keep her toast ofcourse
  15. Yep i see what your saying. Done it with my lurcher pup But the whippet was house bound with 2 broken legs and im sure you can understand once she was walking the last thing she would have been doing was jumping
  16. Cant teach a dog to jump when its stuck in the house for 5 months
  17. I dont have a lurcher........i have a whippet Too delicate to be jumping !!
  18. Nope. To keep me warm at night ffs! The comparisons were made in reference to chanceys remarks and in no way aimed toward the english or scottish women on here. I have 2 dogs that jump 100% like i said. My whippet will and she wont. I am happy with that. Ill just lift her over or throw her over. She weighs less than a bag of sugar! Maybe she doesnt jump 100% because she spent 5 months of her 'pup life' cage/house bound? And as ive said in the yapping thread, im fuckinng grateful she can run at all.......if she wont jump a fence then so be it.....i dont f****n want her to if the
  19. good question but a true working terriers vocation is earth work. atb bunnys. And lurchers is catching game... not the hurdles I like my dog jumping...i worked hard to get her to jump..i just like adding reason for debate
  20. no mate a lurcher that dont jump is just that it dont f*****g jump.A corgi is a little terrier type with no tail hope that helped you out Is a scotman without a kilt still a scotsman? An englishman without tea still an englishman?
  21. Cant think of anything worse than driving about in a truck thats camo'd up.....if i seen it id think....sad fcuker.... Spend the money on a tv, a new bike or a lifetime subscription to heat magazine! I mean, c'mon. Its not stealthy. Its a 2 tonne chunk of metal, rattling and noisy as fcuk. Whats the quarry gonna think?.... Theres that fcuker in that truck....oh no wait...its a moving tree If ye get 'OFFICIAL REALTREE' wrote on it ye might pick up more birds though
  22. Phill mcrackin would be better. Easy to take the piss out of the scottish....when yer not scottish Theres a reason people move north of the border and send all their shiite south.
  23. Jock? Please call me wallace...william wallace. Southern fairy
  24. Sounded to me like you was blaming the breeder 'fatlad'? Look, at 11 weeks you had the dog, untouched, a clean slate and after 5 months it bit your son. Now without sounding harsh. You couldnt have socialised it or trained it right. Its common knowledge you give a pup food, then take it away from it. Give it back....carry on for months...get your son to do it. Same with bones, toys treats etc. Get the kids to play with them, poke and prod them within reason, touch their mouth, teeth, feet and tail. This is bringing up an 11 week pup to accept kids and know what right a
