Well you said the British are totally professional? That can't be true because as you said, no-one is immune to cock ups and of all the ones I've seen, most of them were down to someone not doing their job properly. Luckily, the Brits are that used to getting shafted by their government they improvise and just get on with it. As this is a public forum I'm not going to post 'evidence', all I'll say is that you're entitled to your opinion but I've seen first hand certain things that go on so take it from me that things do go on, and it's in everyone's (polititians) best interests to keep it qu

No offence Buch but you've just accused someone of know 'next to nothing' about the situation, and you're now telling me something that simply isn't true. And if you think times have changed since the Falklands then think again, things like this are a fairly regular occurrence believe me, just because it isn't in the papers doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You may have been roped into the culture of looking at our squaddies through rose - tinted spectacles I don't know, but remember soldiers are subject to the same emotions and moments of stupidity no matter what side of the fence theyre on

Two wars that spring to mind. Oman in the early 70's - guerilla war won by us the British Malaya from 1948 to 1960 - guerilla war won by us the British I could find loads more but i cant be bothered. Without wanting to sound like a prick it sounds like you know next to nothing about the situation in Afghanistan at the moment. It is far from a no win situation. Most afghans support ISAF ... I don't know how many afghans you've met, but most afghans are on the winning side irrespective of who it is...

There might not be any oil but there's an estimated $3 trillion in un - mined minerals...

Far worse has happened on both sides, the difference is alot of it is covered up to maintain the political and moral high ground. Personally, who gives a fcuk? They're dead, so they couldn't care less... Guess it ok for them to mutilate our lot because that's what's expected of them. Live by the gun, die by the gun.

I nearly forgot Ashley Cole...

He's full of s**t I'm afraid. Been in the army 7 years and have seen civilians on the ranges/land all over the country. If it was me I'd tell him to wind his neck in, if you know you're in the right then that's the end of it, don't let them confuse you by waffling on about 'regulations' and 'policy', you aren't in the army so if the occupier (who pays rent/a lease) has given you permission then it's got nothing to do with anyone else.

Where are you based mate? -
No worries I'm using an iPhone it's a pain in the arse! That's my point - no one in command told them to do their job and protect people, but to stand back and do nothing. Simply because any injuries caused would be on their heads. Because of various acts that are supposed to protect us. I've been in riots, and I can tell you now that a couple of baton rounds and decent coordination on the ground would have stopped it in a few hours, simple as that. I was on the piss in Edinburgh a couple of years ago when I was still in the army with another guy and 2 birds, walking towards a club. Saw an

Scothunter, for example a lot of people blame the police for not getting a grip of the riots over the summer. Was it their fault, or was it the government who wrapped them in so many acts etc that they couldn't move for fear of getting raped afterwards? I'm qualified to work as a first responder for the NHS. When I did my qualification i was told 3 things - 1) If I didn't do everything exactly as I'd been taught, I could be charged. If you were having a heart attack I couldn't even advise you to take aspirin ffs. 2) If I don't have your consent, I can't treat you, even if you're in a stat

Same here mate don't get me wrong, I don't look for trouble and I know for a fact that a few of these guys are currently in nick for various things. I also know that most of them aren't 'freemen' but freeloaders who use every trick in the book to get out of paying debts, tickets etc... Which f**ks up their case somewhat. Also, they make the arguement that this was an offence under statute law and as they haven't given their consent to be governed by it, it doesn't apply to them. Well I'm sorry but I guarantee he'd be the first one to claim against the driver who went into him, not to me

Think id rather pay the 60 quid than make a c**t of myself like that ! Im no fan of ol bill but i feel for them having to deal with prats like that without getting physical. That's your choice mate Not saying I wouldn't pay it mind, but these a***holes are just revenue collectors, a fine for this and a fine for that.... People are slowly getting pissed off at the ridiculous amount of legislation put in place by a government who weren't elected by the majority, who are inept and regularly abuse their positions (and get away with it), and if you have a quick look on YouTube these 'idi

I knew there'd be at least one on this site!!! Good stuff mate, as the LAW maxim says, ''Ignorance of the law is no excuse.'' So when a copper tries pulling section 44 of the Terrorism Act from his hoop, he obviously isn't aware that it was ruled to be unlawful by the European court of human rights. But still insists on using it, unlawfully. But most people are blindly obedient so do as they're told like good little sheep... or some people would rather avoid uneccasery attention from the cops, for a load of shit like jumping a red light. accept the fact he was unlucky, and got caugh

Vicious bully who wrote a book, much of which has been brought into question now (unfortunately as he's dead we may never know the truth about some of his claims).

I disagree. Mainly because it took my force 6 months of umming and ahhing before I got issued mine, and yet some others seem to get them within 2 weeks??? The Home Office publishes guidance. The Chief Constable interprets that guidance, and instructs his FEO's as such. So because the legislation is so restrictive, because the Gov have basically said 'it's your call', the result is an individual that is reluctant to issues licenses to certain people, or maybe for certain calibres, or maybe certain sections of firearm. The legislation is more than enough. The problem is the final call is ma

My point exactly mate, at some point in our lives everyone has problems, if all thats required is a chat then so be it, but no GP would risk a lawsuit by attesting to someone's mental state if there is a shadow of a doubt. So the next story we will hear of will involve another shooting, with friends/family saying that the shooter was depressed but was too scared to see their doctor. Seems the powers that be only learn the hard way, and even then it takes them years to make 'reasonable' changes.
-
Well said. GP's aren't subject matter experts on mental health so I guess that proposal falls flat straight away.
-
One GP pointed out (quite rightly), that if they were obliged to inform police of mental health issues of a SGC or FAC holder, then most FAC/SGC holders won't bother to go to the doctors for fear of losing their licence(s). I declared anger management on my app as I didn't want to be caught out, but I sought the help as I recognised I had a problem, as opposed to tw*tting someone then getting a court order. So should I be banned? Everyone's an individual and personally I think it's wrong to chuck people in the same category. The fact is, an activity must be 'inherently lawful' in the

My FEO said ''The problem we have is that you can have a 50 year old proffesional, with not a jot on his record, who applies for a FAC/SGC and as long as they have permission, accepted referees etc then we can't refuse. They may not have any experience but it doesn't matter, even if the CC apples conditions they can still legally buy and possess firearms.'' It's a wonder there aren't more ''accidents'' (negligence) reported concerning legally held firearms/shotguns.... To be frank, it is easier to buy an illegal, unregistered (and probably prohibited) firearm than go through the applicati
