  3. just need a bit of advice . i have to put down about 250 duck this year on a dug out river with no island. steep banks one side and big grass area the other.. do i just elec fence off big area of grass or what!! Any ideas appreciated
  4. i use sheep panacur all the time, and you can't overdose the birds either, as someone else said put it in the water for a couple of days then clean out and give fresh water,
  5. if the guns give the beaters a tip, would this be a way round it..
  6. same on our shoot, its easier to do the work yourself, i find its better to ask the beaters for a hand in return for a bit of pigeon or rook shooting, much keener!!!

  8. i got a 9 month old lakeland, clearing up rearing field other day and mice running everywhere, at first didn't know what to do but chase them, til one bit her then it was killing time. at the end of the day she was obsessed with every bit of wood we lifted off the floor.

  12. depends where you are shooting duck, is it on the moors on splash or flight pond or out on the marsh, if you know duck are coming in to a certain pond then stand well back keep still and shoot them on the way in or out
  13. looking for regular beaters on a thurs, somerset, with or without dog

  15. my son lost his hob back in easter, went up night and day set traps and all.. nothing . now people are telling me of a big polecat in the area, I wonder!!
  16. i can't guarantee my ferrets won't bite they're used to my scent, they have been handled a lot but still only three months old. i don,t want them back in a week cause they bit you
  17. i have just got a lakeland terrier from good working strain. what a character already, can,t wait to go ratting when she is older, any advice appreciated....
  18. i hav e 2 jills that need re homing , they have been handled well and are 3-4 months old, i,m in the somerset area would prefer if they went to a working home

  21. 10 ,000 day olds this year, just finished bitting that was great fun!. at the moment start 5am check birds, gas, heaters and drinkers, this carries on throughout the day, feed at about 4 ish. i take my last walk round at about 10. on top of this i have to check all my wires and still find time to go out with the lamp. I have a good tan though
  22. yes good luck, i have a 7 year old spaniel that still works flat out on every drive, someetimes doing the same bit of cover 3 times just for the sake of it. she loves it..
