  1. Said to you other night ma man, look for a good saluki X grey dog would be my choice easy!!
  2. Depends what your wanting from the pups? If the saluki was older and tested that'd be my choice easily but I wouldn't put a dog that young am untried over anything, probably your best bet is the lurcher, but maybe try ardvertise for a stud that you want? Atb in your breeding cheers
  3. Always been straw for me, saw boys using duvets and dogs usually and up tearing them to bits and always thought the straw seemed warmer than the shredded paper
  4. Just started a new set up mate, will be all insulated and ply lined on inside with 2 separate raised boxes each for dogs with 2 separate runs coming out the front, cheers
  5. Can vouch for this bitch, been out seen it do the business few times and done very quickly and efficiently
  6. Only bought the sarkan mate cost £90 from a mate at a sawmill had the 3x2 and 1/2" ply accuired
  7. Aye got some kingspan boards for installation and will be sticking the heat lamp in aswell so it'll be cosy enough, just a bit of work to go still
  8. Will be all instaliated and ply lined with 2 instaliated raised boxes for dogs with 2 separate runs for dogs coming off the front, bit of work to do still but it's getting there
  9. Started on the new kennels this morning hopefully finished by end of the week
  10. Stopper protecters? Could do with some myself where'd you get them pal
  11. Just in ground was starting to freeze so cut it short, same again 1 slip 1 rabbit, wee bit of blood from the stoppers again but nothing major just week off again and they'll be fine
  12. Grounds decent here for the 1st in a couple of weeks so getting the big dog out a spin tonight after being layed off with burst stoppers and knocked toe so here's hoping we get a few runs
  13. Wise words mate, I was thinking of more next season and just try get something planned out this season, I do remember a lamping comp on hear couple of years back becoming abit of a farce with slagging, arguing but I'd say it's pretty much part and parcel of running a comp? Was just a thought to see the reaction and see who would be genuinely willing to help run, enter, compete!! Would be good to test dogs against best in country tho. Cheers
  14. After reading the "east of England lurcher club post" and got me wondering if us Scottish boys would be interested in arranging a "lure" coursing comp?? Maybe run a couple of regional ones then the winners progress into a national final? Opinions please?? Only a suggestion so no wide comments please, PM if you want cheers
  15. I'm the exact same mate, managed to get to the last 2 Waterloo cups which was great but the real deal would have been to run matches/comps on the fens with my own dogs against some of the big names, hopefully the ban gets overturned and I can test my dogs at the time against some of the best in the country
  16. Would give the shredded paper a miss mate, straw in my opinion is much better bedding, you can pick up a square bale for £4-5
  17. Would of like to have been a member back in the day, wouldn't of minded the traveling from north the border for some good running
  18. Got a link mate? I use the 250w and they burn leckie like fek
  19. Start basic training and stock breaking as soon as they've had their jabs and usually around 10months start slowly introducing them but that's just a guide all pups are different you just need to play it by ear
  20. Sounds like she's cut a stopper, best thing to do is wash it with warm salty water and stick a touch of iodine spray on it if you have any to keep it clean and just lead walk her for a week or 2 till it's healed up, dont bandage it just leave it open so air can get in to it.
  21. Exactly why dogs become jackers or yappers then it's the same folk on here asking why their dogs yapping then it gets passed from pillar to post and what could have became a half decent dog if given time gets ruined and becomes useless, only 1 option in my book after that, PTS!!
  22. One mans jacker, then its often down to the owners inability to harness the mutt correctly, will be anothers mans pride for life. Stop on Morton, big dog I've got just now was considered by a few a "jacker" but that was at 13month old but with abit of time spent with him and no rushing him to fast he's turned out a real worthy dog doing 2s and 3s (field not fen) regularly now, so alot the time it's down to the owners
  23. thats the worse about the bigger dogs i just go out myself mainly we rabbit dogs i have so no hassle hope it doesnt happen again Daz Aye we've a tight knit group who try keep ourselfs quiet but it's nearly impossible keeping them from finding out what's good at what.
  24. Not so sure northernlite had an attempt on mine couple of weeks ago mate, problem is where I am there's alot of hawkers so word gets about the traveling boys of what dogs doing what, pain in the c**t.
