  1. found this one today in a tiny crack in the soft bark of a giant sequoia tree -didn't see any bird but eggs are smaller than a robins but similar in colour ????? nuthatch /tree creeper???
  2. its still sitting tight fireman its actually at the side of a well used pathway and isn't phased by people walking right passed it -ftm ps im surprised magpies haven't found it as they are wreaking havoc in that very area [public place]
  3. keeper asked us to pay a final visit to the big rookery and although only 2 rapids in action we ended up with a canny bag weather was kind to us and a pat on the back from landowner ensures another trip in the future

  6. me and pal went to hexham[Northumberland] this morning and although not as big a haul as last weeks outing [as if] we had a canny little few hours mk1 & mk2 in use
  7. many years ago I owned a cracking border collie dog [from cattle farm ] heart like a lion -I put it over a lads handy little whippet bitch and hand on heart 5 pups turned out cracking mooching -ferreting/ratting dogs -4 were small light built and pocket rockets -1 was a bit taller and built like a tank and it done teeth single handed - this was a case of no litter wastage but in all fairness the lads that owned them knew how to work a dog -they weren't my cuppa tea as I liked collie /grey being bigger for bigger stuff I don't own lurchers now [spaniels] but once these gone
  8. we did have to change bottles lads lol and trying to load magazines was frantic as you could hear other lads shooting further along wood and you didn't want to miss out [as if] but all in all the picture says it all -bloody great day out
  9. I think they are making a few "brancher" pies mate lol -land owner asked that we put them in his cold room so I guess he had a use for them -ferals were for keepers Larson traps and to feed his ferrets

  11. most were 25 -30 yds but we decided to test ourselves after a bite to eat 60 -70 yds fantastic fun day for us but still a job to be done by us there was approx. 300 nests in this rookery with herons nesting in middle of it

  13. keeper phoned and asked if I could get a few "responsible " lads together to sort a very very large rookery out up in Northumberland , with it being either side of a country lane and adjoining a horsey type farm we could only use air rifles -I phoned 2 mates [rapid lads] and we arrived at 7.30 am and left at 5.00 pm most were " branchers" but a few adults were shot to add to the tally along with a few ferals the stoat was found in a gin trap inside an old barn 108 in total leaving both keeper and land owner pleased -ps some one wanted the birds for eating so I was happy with t
  14. im glad born hunter is on his own on this one - would he be as supportive if one of his family members had been attacked by these 2 parasites -they need taken away on a ferreting trip and dropped into a big "back fill"
