Have to agree that you have a dodgey view on the realities of teaching. I finished uni last year, took a semi-gap year off after with the aim of going on a PGCE (teacher qualification course). I decided not to do it - not yet anyhow. I got accepted on the course (which is highly competative, you can't just qualify overnight), however decided teaching wasn't for me at the moment.
The hours are horrendous, the pressure intense and most of all, you're under-appreciated (perfectly demonstrated by this thread). Sure, the pay is good - but it comes at a cost.
