  1. Maggie, bull/grey cross pure grey, hunted pigs and other things regularly till she was 8 but had her last taste at 11. Retired after that and died peacefully at home at 14. Beautiful natured, gentle, dignified dog and a decent hunting dog to boot, no world record breaker but a pleasure to own. Oldest dog I ever hunted was a english bull terrier/labrador bitch called Cleo, she retired from active duty at 12. Have had dogs retire as early as 6 though due to injury and unwillingness to keep at it.
  2. Who would do this? Two dogs have been found hanged from a village bridge in a "barbaric" act of cruelty, the RSPCA has said. The bodies of the dogs, described as "lurcher types" by the charity, were discovered by a woman motorist in Congerstone, Leicestershire, on Thursday morning. RSPCA inspector Sheona Morley said the animals' bodies were suspended from opposite ends of a single rope, which stretched over the road crossing the bridge, near Bosworth Road. She said: "It must have been absolutely awful for the lady who discovered them. She was driving along the road but found he
  3. nice stamp of a dog, mate. Looks hard as nails
  4. I'm keen on a dog pup, wouldn't be worked much, maybe rats. More of a family pet to be honest.

I like the broken coated red and blacks, got any of them?

  5. an old one of mine, about 27tts and 35ish kilos?
  6. what sort of an asshole steals a man's dogs?? The bloke who did this deserves a good kicking.
  7. here's another one of mine, but this time it's a 3/8 bull 5/8 grey over another 3/8 bull 5/8 grey, if memory serves? Good dog but got killed by a 70 kilo boar, bad considering he's dealt with many 100 kilo boars before the one who got him.
  8. from my experience I'd put a pure greyhound over it. O, a proven 3/8bull, 5/8 grey. But, if it were my bitch I'd put a good grey over her. Here's mine from same breeding, fast, hard but needed a rest between hunts.
  9. What?? A working terrier now a pet???!!!!!??? Mobly reckons there aint such a thing. More power to you!! Of course it can be done.
  10. Maybe terriers are different from all other breeds, but the dogs you describe don't sound like any workers I've come across to me, they sound like inbred, highly strung, schizodogs which would be hard to collar let alone work in a pack...no offense. I have owned pure working (as in from game champion pitbulls) who didn't act the way you describe. I have worked, bred and retired as pets good working lines of pigdog. with no problem whatsoever. Even a 30th generation sheepdog (border, aussie cattle, smithfield, etc etc etc) will make a good pet if kept amused and entertained. The problem
  11. Why would you regret it? I've worked hundreds of dogs, I like working dogs as pets cos they make the best pets. Would you feel better if I showed you one of your pups with 4 teeth left, smashed up face and lame at 4 years old or would you like to see one of your pups fit, healthy and loved by a 6 and 7 year old when it's 12? I don't get the ''only to a working home'' mentality. As a dogman of many years, I have no problems sending a good working strain to a good home. Each to their own I spose.
  12. That's a solid lookinmg little bitch, mate. She's a cracker. I came within a poofteenth of buying a border/lakie last month, but was told by a mate not to cos lakies were yappers. Is this true? I must add this dog wouldn't be worked, it'd be a pet. But I swear by working dogs making the best pets. Assuming they're from good working lines they're always healthy, always trustworthy and people sound and usually dog sound. That's the pet for me. If that bitch don't work out I'll have her.
  13. Nice, STUNTMAN, they lok handy. Ever used a jagdterrier? I haven't used them but have seen two used on pigs and they were brilliant. I know you're after coyotes and coydogs, but the game rule applies. I had pigdogs that dealt with dingoes when called upon. I'd love to go dogging in the USA, Coons, lions, bears, pigs, fox, yotes etc. Australia has roos, fox, deer, pigs, goats, scrub bulls, dingoes and other ferals I won't hunt, eg donkeys and horses and camels,,,,,, but American game has got to be the best outside of African or Indian game.
  14. maybe he's counting his catch and won't be able to post till boxing day?? Seriously, though, a big part of me wants to see a good vid of a hard working miniature poofle producing the goods. I reckon it's doable, whether it's the ultimate bushing dog or not is very debateable, but any dog with prey drive will bush. I really wanna see this work.
  15. The first pup looks like a patterdale with a good dose of pit bull, the second looks like a fox terrier with some bull blood (could be way off). How are they bred?
  16. Some fella was claiming to show us vids of a poodle in action bushing. Where are ya, pal? I. for one, would love to see you succeed.
  17. That black one is a dead ringer for my brother's old pit in Australia. One of the soundest, most stable, trustworthy dogs I ever met.
  18. @ warrigal, that bottom pic makes me feel homesick, mate. Could only be one country on earth, the magical land of Oz.
  19. nice one, good to see ACDs are recognised in England.
  20. As others have sid, stamina is a problem as is they're too fast on rough ground and are very likely to get injured. Greyhounds also seem to get bad teeth at a youngish age.
  21. this one stood toe to toe with a german shepherd bitch that outweighed her by a good 20 kilograms and she wasn't the one who ran off. I reckon she'd make short work of a charlie if she got the one that goes past my window every morning. She's overweight in this pic, but game as all hell.
  22. As a pig hunter, in the old days, I think there's nothing like the wank factor of trying a different cross and seeing it produce the goods and then bragging about it to yer mates. IU've kept tried and tested dogs in my pack but have always kept a new half cross or two as well, in the hope I will produce an outstanding start to a new breed. I've had many average and poor half crosses but I've had a small handfull of damn good half crosses, including labrador/English bull terrier, boxer/pitbull, Doberman/pitbull, Aussie cattle dog/English bull terrier and fila braziliano/labrador. Some of the
  23. Jesus, I thought wolves were extinct in this country!!!
  24. i think most dogs catch outside a warren the alaunt is a bit big to use as ferret hahaha, I should have said a dog that catches within 2 metres of its warren, before the rabbit had a chance to get some steam on.
