  1. now thats my perfect shed, how bigs the rest of the water? Cheers fella, Ponds only small, 40 yards square, but teaming with wildlife and is smack in the middle of my permission
  2. here's mine. love the solitude and can spend a few hours drowning a worm with a few tinnys
  3. get that pro sport review/experience written lad. sure there are plenty interested
  4. I think folk confuse intelligence and game sense. The ability of some of the herding dog x's to work out a situation is second to non. few coursing dogs could do that, but neither would they need to. But the best coursing dogs (and any worthwhile lurcher) have game sense that they use to put game in the bag. The most intelligence of people are rarely the most practical or able.
  5. Sorry to hear that fella. Even the littlest of dog leave a big impression on your life
  6. She can be a bit heart in mouth at times! but apart from the usual knocks and cuts she has come through unscathed. Her coats crap though. Can't have everthing
  7. Takes more than 2 years for any dog to prove itself, and even if it did, I for one would not breed from a 2 year old I would tend to agree with you matey, the trouble we have is that almost all the blood is dead due to their style. The whole litter is spoken for and it's not even done yet.....no where near even happening. So I won't be trying to sell strangers something on the pretence that's its all well proven stuff because none will or would ever get sold. The bloods very good, we stand a good chance we may loose it so we have to make a choice, simple as that really mate. But, as I say
  8. 19" and 15kg. Definate rabbit dog size. a little limited when lamping, but I put that down to lack of height on the rougher ground we have around here. I've had similar dogs before, but bred down from the grey rather than the whippet and they excelled at lamping anywhere.
  9. Worked for me mate. Collie x racy three quarter whippet beddlington
  10. Takes more than 2 years for any dog to prove itself, and even if it did, I for one would not breed from a 2 year old
  11. As a partner for work, I would always choose a level headed plain Jane over a pycho leggy blonde any dayBut them leggy blondes do impress on one off dark nights
  12. Don't know about the breeks Wilf, but the material is very soft, light and quite warm. Very waterproof, but can get heavy if you don't shake the water off. If you don't it takes ages to dry. Better than any itchy wool tweed. If they are not too warm, then I may bite the bullet and get a pair of the trousers. Would get Breeks, but only wear them a few times season these days and think I,d get my money's worth more from trousers. Gone to earths comment about gorse is valid though. They dont rip or shred as such, but can end up a bit "plucked"
  13. Personally I'd choose one that was a good steady alround farm collie. Not flighty, oversensitive. If it's a first cross then my preference is for a good chunky type, whereas if it's to add to a line bred collie/greyhound line dog then something a little racier/ leggier. There are some folk who work collies as alround dogs that can do much of the work of a mooching lurcher. Find a good one of them and you are onto a good start. The one I have is too sensitive for me to want to breed from again. Pups from his only litter turned out reasonably good dogs but still have his oversensitive nature. Th
  14. Dont tell Fuji, he'll have Don over that Pom thing!
  15. Cheers for the feedback GTE. Do you wear them as normal trousers or have some kind of under layer? If that mAkes sense!
  16. I have had a nomad quad rider for about eight years now and it has been a great bit of kit. As such I bought a gameshoot coat for this season and it has been equally good. This one is in the tweed pattern and is not quite as overly warm as the green smock I had originally. My question is, has anyone tried the Nomad fleece trousers/legwear? And if so, do you find them overly warm and what Nomad fabric were are they? Cheers, Trench
  17. Cheers Andy, Bit on the small size for beasties, but you try telling her that!
  18. That statement makes more sense to me. A "hunting" collie makes more sense to a working man than a beefy running dog. I have had a few heavily collie bred lurchers over the years, most of which many would class as litter wastage. They have served me well, taking serious knocks few and far between. They would never be suited to open flat arable ground, but for woodland, moor and scrub they do a fine job on all manner of creatures. I have a collie x 1/4beddie - 3/4whippet now that never gets a second glance, but as a ratching dog, has more than enough pace and the terrier infusion does seem to h
