  1. Where would you recomend to set them then mate? I got all mine last season on fence lines on the edge of a forrest on easily visible runs they were using. But just a thought surely bait each side of the run gives a better chance of catching?
  2. Havent done a lot of snaring only had a few but going to do a lot this coming season. Quick question does anyone bait each side of the run under a fence ? Never tryed it but surely it would work better?
  3. Sound like very handy all rounders gona be my next dog when i cross my bull whip with a greyhound in a season or 2 pups will be 1/2 greyhound 1/4 bull 1/4 whippit should make very handy we pups on all game.
  4. If your wanting to get it out of the trap without it escaping mate get one of them things that firemen would use for getting cats out of trees etc. The pole with a loop on the end that tightens around the neck. Then you can blow to the head if thats what you want.
  5. I no im going into something different here but whats the smallest dog youv had that done them regular..im not talking 7 a night like these dogs i just mean week in week out.
  6. Leave them till september mate let the cubs have a chance. If your worried about the chickens make sure the pen is secure and set a few snares around the pen just incase.

  9. My dogs gets mainly raw rabbits and redmills. I do a lot of fishing mainly trout and salmon and have a pile of fish in the freezer and will be getting a lot of makerel soon. Never fed fresh fish to my dogs do any of yous feed fresh fish to them? And if yes how filleted or whole?
  10. Thinking about putting my we bull whippit to a greyhound in a few years to get this cross sounds a handy cross whats he like?

  12. Seen your article in the countrymans weekly a few weeks ago about these dogs good read. Mate of mine has an airdale x bull grey about the same age as yours big chunky dog but hes not bred for rabbits.
  13. Hate the things kill everyone i see as long as it is way out in the country far away from any houses wouldnt kill some oul dolls pet.
  14. Cought a few in the river maine over the past few years accidently when spinning for salmon.
  15. My bull whippit was the same mate everytime brought back to hand but didnt want to leave go. Done a lot of work with a dummy when he brought it back gave him a light tap on the nose and give the command drop it works a treat.
  16. F**k me would hate to live over there would do my head in you couldnt enjoy a good nights lamping. Over here i lamp where i want when i want without anyone bothering me. Still able to do fox over here but i could walk down the mainstreet with terriers and spade if i wanted and still not get any hasle from police. The police service over there need to catch a grip and try catch some proper crimanals ffs.
  17. Mine is a half cross mate 18 months old now had 2 fox single handed an 2 doubled up before that. Plan to put him over a good whippit in a year or 2 to get a 1/4 bull. He is still quick as anything an lifting rabbits with ease but would like a bit more whippit. And yes they would still take fox as i will be using the pup for rabbits and fox. Or maby put him over a good grey would be usefull pups.
  18. Have a we bull whippit my self mate would reccoment them good we alrounders good on the lamp and can be useful around holes as well.

Vet in my town dear as feck 30 quid just to have a look at your dog before he does anything wouldnt go near the place.. out in the country we vets wouldnt go anywhere else now. 45 quid for 4 stitches into dogs side..put to sleep course of antibioics for a week and staying overnight couldnt believe it.

If im hunting somewhere local walking distance i would only take at the most 3 or 4 rabbits(if i took more the place would be dead) and as many fox as i get the chance to, on some good ground with healthy numbers ill be killing untill the lamp dies. Im not a numbers man im happy enought just getting out getting a few runs watching the dogs work.

No a man with a 5 year old grey x collie x salukie got it out of a pound when it was 2 years old great dog never been lamped he just uses it day time mooching gets it fair share of long ears very good dog..the man put the time into it and has got the rewards. Would like to see more of this get more enjoyment of watching the dog work that you've rescued or raised your self than just buying a working dog sure anybody can do that.
