hemp is perfect to learn on and if you shape the nets you will use less twine than what you would an un-shaped net and get more from your spool

no matee yesterday was the first time i had him out only had him a week i had an excellent wee jill and a very promising tiny wee hob was only 7 inch long and had bolted a couple of rabbits but went out to feed them last week and they were dead which was quite a supicious one as they still had food from the night before plenty of water that wasnt frozen plenty of bedding and it was on a warmer night than we been getting so it wasnt the cold that got them i have my suspicion to what happened but cant prove it yet but it will come out sooner or later the same as it did the first time it happ

i know what you mean with fast and slow starters i've had a couple of slow starters that came good were some of the best i've had and i dont mind taking a bite from a ferret normally but these hobs are huge and not even the hardest of men would fancy a bite from them lol so i wont take the chance of it biting me hahaha but we will see how it goes with him
-
agree with that matee like i say i'm not going to give up after its first time out and will give him a chance but after a few years doing it you tend to pick up on wether a ferret is going to do well or just not do it at all and although i'm not writing him off just yet i honestly dont think he is going to be any good but like i say time will tell and he will be out again in the morning and see if he feels a bit better when i have his brother with him as i've not tried hid brother yet either so take the 2 tomorrow cos there identical and i cant tell them apart yet lol only had them about 5 o

one thing i never do is put them down at arms length and hold them there they wont know whats going on and good for biting i've been doing this 15 year and have learnt a couple of wee tricks that help along the way and the dog is an excellent marker if theres something at home she knows it had 5 seasons of work behind her and trust her all the way so as i said i will percivere with it but still being realistic that it just might not have it in him
-
no worries matee same to you and yours buddy
-
i think mainly just for rehydration but if it means the dog is more hydrated during a run then i would think a little extra energy is produced and mixed in with a good diet it will bring out the best in your dog
-
every day at his night time feed and add a little extra after a day/night out
-
i sprinkle a tablespoon of electrolyte on my lurchers dinner helps with dehydration mostly used with the greyhound men

aye well i'm going to give him time anyway and hope he comes good thats all i can do i know what your saying with some take to it qucker than others and this is going to be a slower one but its the first one i've had that ran the other way from a burrow lol

thats true it was a change to see some grass under the feet like i say its first time out so really wasnt expecting anything from him but will do all the usualls with him take him out it all comes with experiences but i get the feeling he just hasnt got it i know you cant really tell from the first time out and i will keep at him i've had a few ferrets over the years and had young skulk run through but not bolt come out a hole and start jumping about with daft carry on but never had one that ran away from holes lol it just dont seem to have it in him time will tell plenty time left for
-

well guys i'm not long in from a day out with johnboy19 with a young ferret terrier and the air rifles well lets just say things were not in our favour to start off with as with the ferret being young and it being a new ferret that i havent tried untill today i wasnt expecting many rabbits from it but definatley never expected it to act the way it did the first burrow the terrier had marked after putting the rabbit from cover we proceeded to net up waited a couple of minuts and attempted to enter the ferret attempted being the objective word well the ferret had no interest in the burrow wha

nothing wrong with taking it out and letting it run through small burrows 4 and 5 holers just dont expect too much from it as it will probably run past rabbits untill its older and twigs on to what it has to do but expect some carry on from it and just treat it as experience for it and dont be put off when it doesnt bolt them right away i always have yoyng ferrets out from 11/12 weeks onwards in my pocket in the box running through burrows and generally associating them with everything that they are kept for and then by the time thier second season comes they know whats expected of them
