  1. Nice to see You have the makings of a cracking little team. That is what I am after. My lurcher is only young at 5 1/2 months himself so I am no rush at the moment, but I am on the look out for the right dog so they work along side one another over the coming years. I know it will be harder work having two young dogs, but surely they will bond better and learn from each other, as Yours are begining to do Thorny
  2. So what do You get with a spaniel x Terrier, that You dont get with a pure bred span or terrier, as said before would be nice to see a few examples. Thorny
  3. I have decided to go with a Beddy x Whippet, thankfully someone on here has a litter from good working parents planned. My name is down on the list, so fingers crossed. Great feedback thanks Thorny
  4. I will see what I can do tomorrow, see if I can get a better pic
  5. He's very pretty. He's brindle merle like my girl. I like the two blue eyes with the brown fur. He only has one blue eye the other is green!! Like David Bowie That is why we named Him Ziggy
  6. couldnt get all in one post here he is at 4 months
  7. Here is My boy at 8 weeks and 4 months, As You can see He appears to be more brindle but the merle is there. I am sure someone in the know will have a technical name for it.
  8. Thats christmas dinner sorted, once You have one great dog surely its esier to make another if He will follow suit. Great stuff Thorny
  9. Great looking team, Do You shoot with the Cocker as well? Well it looks like we have it down to either a Beddy or a Cocker. Father in-law is very involved in various shoots threw out the south so would also like to double up the dog for a beat of beating and possible retrieving work so looks more like a cocker. Can anyone recommend any breeders of either of My favored breeds. Thanks Thorny
  10. Love him is He a straight Beddy?
  11. Thanks for all the replies, some lovely dogs posted to. I think the wife would favour a cocker, as she grew up around working gundogs. While I would prefer a terrier. So how much with these dogs is instinctive and how much do You have to train them. Thorny
  12. I asked this over on the Terrier side of forum, Jack x Cocker came up, I am with Gareth I also dont really want any thing to go to ground, just work cover. So anyone got any pics of anything they use, even nicer to see one of the mentioned cross`s Thorny
  13. Things are going great with My first lurcher He is growing into a lovely dog. Looking forward to getting out and about with Him next year, have couple of permissions under My belt. I plan to do mainly mooching and some ferreting. While My lad is still young I am toying with the idea of getting a team mate. Looking for something to work the cover and flush it for lurcher. What do people use or suggest, and what does it add to Your team. Thorny
  14. Pity Me by Kevin Kane is a great book to read. It tells of how James Hinks Breed and developed the Bull Terrier. Plenty of information in there on many a lost breed, including the white terrier, Blue Paul ect ect Thorny
  15. To be honest they are the answers I was hoping for, I have always fancied a Jack. So now the question is where will I be able to get a nice little docked bitch? Rough or smooth coated? Is anyone on here planning a litter? Thorny
  16. Perhaps I have opened a can of worm here and will get over run with different advice. I just wondered what terrier would work best with Collie x Greyhound, Looking for something to flush stuff from cover, for lurcher to pick up, on day time mooching. Will also work alone on rats. looking for a fearless little fella that will work its heart out. Thorny
  17. I saw Him win the TV trophy when I was a kid with My Grandad, at Whitecity I think, He never really produced anything to shout about, but had a son Bob`s reagan that also won the TV trophy, dont think that is even run now. Fantastic dog and was lucky enough to stroke him as He came off the track. Thorny
  18. Looks like a bully x sh1tzu to me otherwise known as Bullsh1t
  19. Great read, a friend of mine breeds Boarbell`s they are huge great big dogs and as fit as anything, so crossed with a greyhound must be a flying killing machine.
  20. This could be a great post and one I would like to learn from, I have a 15 week old 5/8 greyhound 3/8 collie. My boys sire is 1/4 greyhound,1/4 border and half beardie, so I would love to hear peoples findings , not the usual bull x are the mutts nuts stuff. It is about hearding dog crosses dont think to many farmers are rounding up sheep with bullys
  21. The one thing I will add and I think its the one thing that sets the two apart, and good breeder will always take back any animal they have breed, if peoples circumstances change. This is something that I Myself had to do on a couple of occasions. Then rehome the animal to a home that I kept intouch with, as I did with all My pups Justin
  22. Interesting post mate. I think personally if You are breeding a type of dog and are passionate about what You do, and with every litter try to improve the litter before,This make You a responsible dog breeder. There are many people out there that breed for money mating any old bitch to any dog. This is where it goes wrong for Me and the only gain can be financial. Rather than planning litters traveling miles to improve Your stock.Holding pups back to rebreed from or work. The thing that gets Me is do people really know just how expensive it is to rear a litter correctly. I would say from My ex
  23. Nice pup, I suppose its all down to the cross,re growth rates and final heights.I have a 14 week old collie x greyhound and already he is 19" tts. Grown an inch a week since I got Him at 10 weeks old. So I am hoping He slows down a little. Having read a few posts on here looks like He has months of growing to do yet. Thorny
  24. thanks for feedback, looks like he has plenty of growing to do yet.
