    My mistake after the Defeat of the Christian king at the battle of Hattin in 1187 Richard led the 3rd crusade in 1189 he couldnt take Jerusalem so made a truce and was allowed to leave and return to England bur underwent a period of imprisonment in france on the orders ,of his brother.It was early 60,s when I studied this history so over 50 years ago memory plays tricks.
