  1. Your right G ... 3 part timers have quit after the first day and it's not even busy yet... We still have a old western 10 and it still gives us 77% although the marcons give us 82% and the peterseim about 85% ...if you ever fancy a days Bitting G ;-)
  2. They have these things called showers these days... Water comes out and you wash yourself lol my static was 16k ... All I pay is electric :-) lamping and digging on the door step and the garden is 7,000 acres ...
  3. He uses bristol incubators and the same hatchers ... And he has a old Weston 10 I'm told ...Personally I think it's a great life... 7 month on 5 month off :-) lots if permission can be gained when out delivering birds to shoots... It does make you quite anti social though lol It doesn't sound a big place though ... I was doing 3000 hens on my own for 2 seasons
  4. I have done it for a long time now.... Piece off pith if your not afraid of hard work and stupid hours ... And there are plenty of benefits.... I live on our rearing field... But I wouldn't pay for the privilege lol
  5. I really enjoy this show... Will the net guy be there ? And the collar guy, ugly dude with a poodle ?
  6. I will be there at some point :-) Scratch that, working ?
  7. To the original poster ... Came across cubs on March 2nd ...very early I know ... The earliest we have come across them was February 14th 1994
  8. I take it you don't have sheep or keep game birds... 1,500 ewes to lamb and 5000 laying pheasants (60,000 poults later on) and the good old ARSEPCA dumping foxes left right and centre... I will just shoo them away and hope they don't come back !!! 75 quid a lamb and 37 quid plus the dreaded for pheasants... It's ok standing on your side of the fence Irishman !
  9. She may just need more work too satisfy her prey drive... Or perhaps they just don't like each ... Do they do it when you go through gates ?
  10. Keep both... I beat for a few estates, it gets the foot in the door for terrier work ... Or if it's the digging that's getting to your mate in his 60s take on a youngster or invite some mates out to do the spade work and fetching and carrying... My spaniel had opened a lot of doors before I started rearing and delivering pheasants for a mate.. And while your beating you will be amazed at the places you find .
  11. How old are they and what kind of prey drive do they have... Are you bushing, ratting or digging them ?
  12. The police did turn up, 1 x helicopter and 5 armed police with automatic rifles ... Everything was explained to police from both sides ... The lad was told to carry on with his job and she was escorted from the land... The land owner has had a order removal drawn up which bans her from his land ...
  13. The footage was 30+ minutes long... She Edited the best bits out lol It doesn't show you her rubbing blood on her lips and face and constantly saying sorry to the vixen because she couldn't save her . In her comments she says it was shot twice , that's a lie it was shot one and was instantly dead... She turned up as the hunt finished today, unfortunately in the morning she had asked a local lad where the hunt was and he guided her 8 miles away to a different estate lol The lad in question was back at it today and a bit of a celebrity ?
  14. We put cows and bulls and other live stock down with a .410 and as said 2" number six does everything it's asked of.
  15. My vet recommended contact lens cleaner... It comes in a squeeze bottle if you get it from tesco and is cheap... I have been using it for 3 seasons now and find it very good .
  16. The dog is a decent worker and the lad who owns him is honest and gets a lot of work for his dogs
  17. GTE you have seen a dog chew through its lead and self enter when you was out with us... Same day we dug acorn the hound bitch out at 8 ft on Graham's piece :-) and yes I still have the big giraffe shaped dog lol 9 now...
  18. The only thing I can think of is that they have fenced off the airfield and dug it in 3 ft ... So the only way foxes can now go is through our laying and poult field.. I did have one that knew the score ... I walked down to check birds at 11 pm one night with the Lurcher and gun and there was a fox between 2 x 100 metre laying pens but it's shut off at the end with security fencing.. Missed it with the 12... I'm a useless shot. Dog sees it and is off ... Bloody fox went straight over the 8 ft fence and left the dog looking a prize Wally lol but it took 2 weeks to get that one.. Had another in
  19. 47 in the last 3 months ... And they nailed 31 chickens and 60 plus pheasant and one guinea fowl... 33 vixens 4 dogs the rest cubs... All from 2 fields ... The majority of them looked like they were dumped, poor condition and just ran up a red light no calling required !?
  20. i bet GTE was on the video clip, it was only 90 years ago.... perhaps there was a young STIG too lol
  21. Most folk back then would be working six days a week to feed there families .... they didnt have the leisure time of today... so a social get together with like minded folk thats costs nothing to attend would be a huge draw....it doesnt mean your dogs no good if it growls... just means you dont win on the day .... every sport has to have rules or etiquette....even out in the field !
