  3. o shit mate we have a bleedy cat aswell and i usually feed him in the morning before or after i check the ferrets so uts quite possible i've touched the cat and then touched the ferret aswell if this is the case then the cat will have to go, only good thing he does is keep the rats down around the chicken run....
  4. ah crap mate good piont theyre thats possible story is.... i went up to yorkshire for 5 days to see family 23rd-28th dec left the ferrets in the hands of my mum to feed them, whilst i was up there she rings me saying shes down with a ward virus from the hospital my ill grandads in, she was violently ill for four days. now its possible the ferret 'scamp' has it all though its seems like a while ago and no other ferrets have gone down with it and mum did say she only handled one ferret which wasnt the ill one and im not sure it would pass on to ferrets hmmm im crossing my fingers it aint it.ha
  5. Im sorry to hear your ferret is in a bad way but why oh why did you leave it for so long? Why did you not get her to the vet asap. How do you know that what she has isnt contagious and all your other ferrets arent going to go down with it? I know it is easy to be wise after the event but it happens so many times on here, where people wait until their animal is close to death before they ask for advice. You should have contacted the vets as soon as you realised she was ill. I know i wont make the mistake again that's for sure but at the start i didn't think she was very I'll just having an
  6. Are her eyes swollen yet ? It sounds like septicaemia. Can you ring your vet tonight and describe the symptoms to him/her ? Our vet will generally tell us whether we need to see him immediately or if he thinks it will wait till the morning. Im not sure about tonight as im not really registered with a particular vet yet but i will defiantly give the local practice a try if not i'll ring as early as possible tomorrow morning

  8. I have a 6 1/2 month old albino jill shes been one my most promising kits from this year.. about 2 days ago now i noticed that she was spending a lot more time sleeping and never out eating or playing so i thought i'd keep an eye on her and give her time. two days on shes been in my utility room since yesterday with dry food rabbit, water and egg but shes gone down hill :/. She hasnt eaten anything at all, shes lapped a bit at the egg but not touched rabbit or dry food...... she is now incredibly weak she cant really stand up she just slumps to the lying position, and her eyes are squintin
  9. they are clever little buggers, mine follow me if I take them out just for exercise on the mnoors (not working) if i go say twenty meters ahead they follow my exact path with their nose, only problem is if they randomly lose your scent they go back the way they came(like back scenting) but at twice the speed so then i have to get a shift on!, i also find that the albino is quicker a following me as she has a better sense of smell to m,ake up for her eye sight i rekon....
  10. Nice mate I rekon its possibly because the snow's been making the days longer by reflecting the light up
  11. Hope you find him mate!!, sound like they were all on a kill mate thats why its deffinatly worth buying a locator, then you could of dug him and the other ferrets out after ten minutes or so s and moved on to the next bury....... If me and my mate didnt have a locator today we would have been buggered aswell matey. had two lye ups on big buck rabbits and had to dig one out and the other one we dug down 4ft and then this must have disturbed them enough there must have been a scuffle coz and the rabbit finnaly bolted, lucky really he had bite marks from the ferrets all over the back of his h

  19. Maybe he didnt kill, she could have died of natural causes eg heart attack( i know it sounds extremly rare but you never know), then he may have came along feeling in the mood for a bit of fresh meat and eaten her chest.... and if that is the case then you cant really blame him.....
  20. yeah there gonna have to establish whos the top ferret mate, just supervise them for a bit they will probably just play fight more than real aggression.. give it 3/4 days just to make sure and i'd say they'd be safe to live together.

  23. To be honest they would stink the place out abit mate.... i spose thay could be trained to use a litter however mine in there 4ft by 10ft court tend to shit in any f**king corner not a specific one, so it would be a risk. Also personally i wouldnt do it- No misses would be impressed.
